RE: VOD dividend20 Jul 2018 13:41
Hello All
I registered here years ago but rarely posted as interactive investor was my main home, but since the laughable 'upgrade' there I abandoned ship and I've since been lurking here instead. Still getting used to the characters here - don't recognise anyone from ii - but it looks like a good community.
Regarding VOD, I bought in several years ago for the dividends but sold at a profit when the numbers started going red in my spreadsheet. Since then VOD has been firmly on my watchlist with a view to buy back somewhere in the region of 140 to 160. You only have to look at a long term chart to find that level. I made several posts on ii a while back (same username) when the SP was a lot higher than it is now but was effectively ridiculed by long term investors. I see similar things happening here. If there's one thing I've learnt over the years, it is to keep an open mind. Rampers and de-rampers exist, clearly, but on the whole I think most people are fairly straightforward and say it like it is from their point of view...
I agree with many here, including LastCall and moniman - I think the VOD sp will fall further, the dividend will most likely be cut by the new CEO along with a kitchen sink job, and with Brexit I think there will be a heck of a lot of volatility (read: carp hitting the fan) before things settle down (and they will, inevitably).
Good luck all (we all need some of that).
Bill
