Hi all, just going to say if anyone is holding their shares in a trading account, get them moved into your personal allowance stocks and shares ISA. Mine are all in there, if this goes to 5/10/50p who knows, zero tax. If a farm in is agreed I'll be keeping hold for the foreseeable, maybe try the odd opportunistic spike, but I don't want to get GGP'd where you sell for 200% profit and they go on to rise 3000%!!

As I've always said, as soon as demand picks up here, this extremely illiquid stock will go crazy. Imagine when we're having 5m+ single trades coming in on some more exciting news.

Get that paper signed (favourably!)

Largest volume day in a good while, 2 share buys to every 1 sell, good sign. Shows we are on the map, just very quiet ATM. Market is holding breath for the coinflip result of farmout or not.

There’s a much bigger geopolitical angle to Petro Matad’s position that I think some are overlooking.

When global tensions rise, especially around the Strait of Hormuz, the issue for China is not just oil price, it is supply security. China imports the majority of its crude and a large portion of that travels thousands of miles by tanker through vulnerable maritime chokepoints. Those routes can be disrupted by conflict, sanctions, insurance withdrawal, or naval pressure. Even when oil still flows, it becomes strategically exposed.

China’s long-term energy policy has been to reduce reliance on seaborne crude wherever possible and instead prioritise supply that is:

• Onshore

• Close to its borders

• Logistically simple

• Politically stable

• Under influence of Chinese operators

This is exactly why PetroChina has spent years building production across Mongolia’s Tamsag Basin. It already operates neighbouring blocks (19 and 21) and has the infrastructure, workforce and export routes pointing directly south into China.

Petro Matad’s Block XX sits right in the middle of that ecosystem.

From a Chinese strategic perspective, oil produced in eastern Mongolia is far more valuable than an equivalent barrel shipped from the Middle East because:

• It does not pass through Hormuz

• It requires no tankers

• It cannot be blockaded

• It feeds directly into Chinese-controlled infrastructure

• It strengthens regional energy security

This is why cooperation between PetroChina and Petro Matad makes industrial sense beyond AIM market noise. A farm-in is not just about funding a junior. It is about consolidating nearby reserves into an existing Chinese-operated production hub.

China does not rush deals because of short-term events. But geopolitical pressure consistently reinforces their preference for controllable, land-based supply. Mongolia fits that doctrine extremely well.

MATD therefore finds itself in a uniquely logical position. It is not an explorer shouting into the void. It is sitting next to an established Chinese producer, with flowing oil, inside a basin China already depends on.

That is exactly the kind of asset that gets integrated rather than ignored.

MATD is in a perfect position for a farmout or even possibly a buyout from petrochina to secure that onshore soon to be pipiline connected oil supply.

More trades in 1 hour than we usually get in half a week. Shows MATD is definitely being kept an eye on. It is a strategic powerhouse right now!!

From this deal. Expect your holding value to drop a minimum of 75% post readmission to lse, and that's if we ever relist.

I thought that too investor but I have a few spread betting accounts (IG etc) and they all say unborrowable and closing only for MATD. Maybe they were borrowable previously so you'd be right that they're crying to lower the share, but I think with the amount they're clearly emotionally invested, it screams 'i gambled my money and lost and now I can't get over it 😭'

I hope they grow and learn from this, and grow up at the same time 🤣

Tenbag I've gotta disagree with you there, I genuinely don't think they're paid stock bashers as I'm pretty sure you can't actually short this stock (correct me if I'm wrong)

What I think is that they gambled heavily, and lost. They are sad little men that are fuelled by bitterness and hate, for their own decisions. They are 80/90% down and see no reason to not bash the stock day in, day out. All of their complaints are historic. Literally complaining about things which were out of MATDs control. Government regulations, dusters etc. pure stupidity when a lot of the issues were resolved in time.

Matd is in the best position it has ever been on multiple fronts. These sad bitter little people cannot grasp the fact that they gambled and lost more than they could afford to lose, and instead of realising they are in fact the ones to blame, they pressed the buy button and chose the amount. They gambled their money, not MB, not some fairy in the sky, they themselves (talking to you StockMaiden) put your money in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would say I'm sorry you lost your money, but I'm not.

I have lost big in multiple companies over the years, and boy did I flame that company and it's directors at the time. But to sit there and post every single day, day in and day out, is clearly an unresolved serious trauma response. They cannot let go of their decision and cannot take accountability, so they make themselves feel better by moving that accountability to someone else. CEO STATEMENTS Vs reality 🤡🤡

No. CEO statements that were true at the time, which then became not true. Life is liquid, not facts. You gambled your own money and you lost it. If it was guaranteed, you wouldn't have gambled hoping for a multiple return. Stick your money in the FTSE 100 and be quiet.

Most of us who have followed this for years sat through the genuinely hard phase. No production. No access. COVID shutdowns. Regulatory delays. Funding risk. Exploration wells with no immediate monetisation. At that point the story was still theoretical and entirely dependent on government processes actually converting into licences and infrastructure.

Fast forward to today and the situation is objectively different. The company is now producing, has demonstrated the ability to flow oil, has export logistics functioning, is receiving revenue, and is in active commercial discussions to bring in a partner to scale development rather than fund it alone. That is a transition from explorer to early-stage producer, which is exactly the derisking step many said needed to happen before a deal could be done.

Selling during the uncertain years would have been understandable. Selling now, when the asset has moved into monetisation phase and negotiations are underway to accelerate drilling, feels like exiting just as the original thesis is finally being tested commercially.

Everyone makes their own decisions of course, but it is hard to argue the risk profile today is higher than it was over the last five years. If anything, this is the first period where outcomes are tied to execution rather than hope.

Very tempted to sell today - after not selling on the three previous 1.25 peaks which fell back to 1-1.1p.

However, the same reason I didn't sell then, is the same reason I didn't sell now. Tomorrow at 7am a farmout announcement can be posted for all I know. Chasing that 10% (in hindsight, why didn't I get them!) would not be worth a huge update like that, which would be posted immediately, they can't hang on to it, and no one knows when (or if of course for StockMaiden to be happy) it will happen

However, like I posted this morning, block XX has always been the key play here, and suddenly today, VII is referenced for the first time, in regards to a farmout. It's clear between the last update and today, block VII has been raised in negotiations, which is absolutely huge news in and of itself.

Good luck all, sell out for a quick 10-20% and good luck to you if you play it right , but I don't want to be that guy who helps and held and held, sold, farmout announcement. Might come in 6 hours, 6 days, 6 months or 6 years. But I ain't gonna be caught not holding when it does 😂😂

Block VII AND block XX!

Here’s something that has slipped under the radar a bit, but is actually a material change in tone from the company.

For the last couple of years every single farm-out discussion has been framed around Block XX only.

That made sense. It is the producing asset, it has proven oil, and the strategy was clearly to bring in a partner to accelerate drilling and scale production.

Block VII was always mentioned separately as an exploration licence. It sat in the background as a longer-term play. It was never positioned as part of the commercial discussions.

Now look at the latest wording:

“Discussions with one potential farm-in partner for Block XX are nearing completion… in parallel we are continuing discussions with other potentially interested farm-in partners for Block XX and for Block VII.”

That is new.

They have moved from marketing one asset to potentially offering a package.

Why does that matter?

Because Block XX appeals to companies that want near-term production and cash flow.

Block VII appeals to companies that want exploration upside in a basin extension next to proven Chinese fields.

By bringing VII into the conversation they are effectively widening the pool of possible partners. Some companies may not get excited about buying into a small producing field alone, but add a frontier exploration block with basin scale potential and suddenly the strategic value looks very different.

This is classic deal-making behaviour. You increase optionality, you increase competitive interest, and you give counterparties more than one reason to engage.

Importantly, nothing suggests XX is being diluted as the priority. It remains the core asset. VII now looks like an added lever to get a deal over the line or improve terms.

So this is not just recycled wording. It is the first time the company has openly linked VII into the farm-in narrative rather than treating it as a separate science project.

If they can structure a deal that combines producing barrels with exploration upside, that is when valuation conversations can change quite quickly.
