But think back to the privatisation era, and look where Centrica is now. All the value has been striped away and sold off from the old national gas company. All that's lwft is the rump, Centrica. Think of it as the ugly red haired kid that nobody wants to be mates with. Strip out the remaining value, Spirit, which is extremely likely. And you have a true zombie company left. Too much off topic already, so I'll stop.

Sir, there's too much potential for mud slinging here, so I'll limit my response. I first bought HUR <30p, at the time, in my judgment it was a reasltic potential ten bagger, no it's not for dreamers. Why do I invest? Because it's a great company, with huge potential. You don't sell Shell because of something you'd not do yourself, so why sell HUR? It's not compulsory to think the Spirit farm in was good. The market reaction showed it wasn't overwhelmingly seen as positive. The share price bounced more when there was an unsubstatiated rumour of statoil farming in (that would have been good). Why am I not buying more? Because I am way too far in for comfort now. I'm here for the long term. I share my honest opinions openly and hope to stimulate sensible discussion. That's a good thing. You don't have to agree with me, that's fine. But do us all a favour and stopp adding 2 + 2 and coming up with 5. It makes you look unprofesional.

@aduk, Sir, thank you for yor thoughts, which rather disapoint me, you jump to WAY too many conclusions. Firstly, I am 62 year old, in sight of retirement, not that it makes a great deal of difference, but anyhow, since the dismal farm in (by the way, look back, the market agreed with me) I have increased my holding in HUR by a factor of three. No, I do not seek dividends, my investment style is one of opportunistic total return. Sometimes, I buy stocks with divis attached while I wait the the share price to grow, other times not. There's no need whatsoever to remind who BASF are (or Wintershall) since I havbe worked in the downstream petrochemicals industry since the age of 16. sir, you are dead wrong in just about everything you said, uncluding the mystery "deramper" jibe. I first bought HUR as a potential ten bagger. Whilst that now seems a forlorn hope, maybe a five bagger is still possible. Why on earth do I want a lower share price?

@escargot et al, I have always been very negative about the farm in by Spirit Energy. For me, this is not a new position to take. Myself, I'd have much preferred HUR keep 100% ownership of all their assets by way of a rights issue to existing shareholders in order to accelerate GWA drilling and tie back. I'd have quite easily ponied up to keep 100% ownership. Had it been a farm in by a major or a super major, then that would have been a very different thing altogether. But it wasn't and it isn't.

Just like I told you all yesterday, Centrica is a basket case, zombie company. Spirit Energy is one of the last remaining parts of the company with any value. The For Sale signs will be up very soon. It was a terrible decision to farm out to these losers.

Myself, the delay by Spirit Energy is nothing to do with HURs progress. Just like I said ages ago, the company major owner, Centrica, is a basket case. Today, their shares have plummeted again. Soon, you can expect to see the For Sale sign over Spirit Energy. They have no money to fund the drilling. I always said it was a very bad deal when HUR farmed out to these no hopers. Very sad to see it come true though, even though I'm one of the few who could see this happening.

Well, I suppose it's a typical internet BB in that folks always prefer to bitch and moan rather than look at the positive. My take on it is that - Either the moaners have selective reading/memory/whatever habits or they have no experience in the industry. The fact is that the majority of O&G projects are late and/or over budget. Sometimes by years and/or 50% over budget, even more sometimes. What HUR are delivering is a very, very professional project, apparently on time, to budget and above all, safely.

If.............Oil arrives on board at 11.59pm on 30th June 2019. That would be bang on the nail. Nobody canrealistically claim anything else. H1 19 has always been the date range for first oil. Honestly, it's an incredible story that we are where are now with no delays and cash in the bank. HUR and their contractors should be applauded not criticised.

You can totally forget INEOS buying Hurricane. Sir Jim Ratcliffe only buys distressed businesses and prefers not to pay more than 30p in the GBP of valuation. I admire INEOS, but I do not want them buying Hurricane. They won't anyway. 100% certain.

@shedful, I don't have a major beef with that, but I really suspect there is a LOT more in the UKCS basement than anyone dare even mention. Going by the twinkly eyes and grin from Dr T when he talks about "what's next", I really do believe we could still be near the start of the first chapter WoS. With a whole encyclopedia yet to written. BP are very optimistic about basement underlyiong Clair, I believe but they are very quiet about it. There "could" easily be many, many billions of barrels all along the western Atlantic margin. Down in Ireland, it's beginning to look promising. Draw a line along the western Atlantic margin. A whole new mega province could open up!

My take over candidate for 2019? The perennial disapointment, Amerisur Resources. Looking very attractive now with a major farm in from Oxy, backing from ONGC and a potential super giant oil field opening up in Colombia. Watch this one.

@shedful, Ophir is already in takeover discussions. It has recently lost its ill fated Fortuna licence which has likely sealed its destiny.

Faroe taken out of the game at 160p today by DNO. Given there seems to still be a buyers strike towards HUR, what's the odds of a cheeky 150 or 200p bid taking HUR out of the game altogether? I think it would be foolhardy to rulw it out.

Myself, I walways thought HUR had a realistic 300 to 350p written all over it. We shall see pretty soon......

Time is running out folks, at <50p it's like a BOGOF in Tesco's. A few weeks back, Malcy said HUR were "20 quid notes on sale for a fiver". He's right, you know.

We simply do not know the status of the kit on board and what latent snags will emerge over the next few days/weeks. Safety will be priority #1 closely followed by control and containment of any untoward incidents that may still happen. We have no idea what could happen. Myself, I'd begobsmaked if we had FOIL in the next couple of weeks, not impossible. But from the basis of zero evidence base, I'd say longer rather than shorter to FOIL. Dr T then said they need 6 months operating data before they really understand how the EPS and the wells are performing. Again, slow and steady is your friend. Too much rush and you can permanently damage future production.
