DBW, media reports cited June or July I think as potential expected offer periods. Perhaps they based that on the period they expected SOLG to be discussing funding and knew this would be when heads clashed???

If a bid arrives in September or October that's still pretty spot on considering the 8+ years this has been a potential bid target!!

As I said, just look at Oz Minerals and Turquoise Hill. Both same traits (sp wise) as SOLG. Both need funding. It's M&A playbook stuff. We are in the perfect zone now for bid action and I'm just praying that we get a bid war as that will delivery top dollar. We have amazing assets and folio so expansive with opportunities that it almost derisks Alpala for a Major. So many other ops across the country for them to tap into.

Things are not always what they seem. I don't take offence by opinions of other posters. Not at all. I'm happy to reposte negativity which I feel is unbalanced or out of context etc. You see, we need black to have white and vice versa. Two to tango. I'm not sure what you want? I do value some posters answers but not all. They don't have to be negative or positive just relevant and in context.

Now... over to your trades. I'm sure you'll admit that not all your trades have been a blinding success. And selling into spikes does not always go to plan. But timelines can help with that. For instance, remember when Fruitbat sold 700k at 27p a while back only then to sit and watch the sp go to 35p+. That must have hurt. We don't know whether he chased it after then or what he did. But over time, what we know now is that his 27p sell looks mighty smart with the sp at 21p today. So be careful with encouraging others. Not all are so lucky. Many (you included I'm sure) will have sold some at 22p (or whatever) only then to see them go to 32p. If they return to 20p is that a 2p gain over time or a 10p gain missed? See, it's all about context.

It's a free BB. Everyone has an opinion. The point of debate is and where we often find out more info (for all to share' is when those opinions are tested and explored.

Would be a boring place if were all just posted one liners and never got to the bottom of them or explored them in more detail. That said, there are few that don't need exploring at all.

The share price has fallen from 35p to 19p in a short time. And you think there's more pain to come? Thanks for being a bit more candid though. I trust you have positioned your yourself (reduced holdings, sold a chunk etc) that reflects your thoughts and vision? Certainly explains a lot about your posting of late. No problem with that at all. Much prefer to know where we stand with some posters as explains the negative views more.

There are always risk ahead, but I think the lower the sp goes the more likely a bid comes in. I base that two proven examples of late in M&A with Oz minerals and Turquoise hill, both have fallen to lows yet suddenly attracted bids.

The reality is, there are two plans and we all know what they are:

1. SOLG raises $3bln through Franco, Boliden, et al and banks, loans and equity. The asset has to be tapped and sliced up in that process. So if you are worried about a pony 1% royalty, wake up because you're likely to end up with 50% of ENSA by the end of this and more dilution.

2. SOLG sells ENSA to an interested party or consortium. This could be part sale or full sale or sale of entire SOLG business.

Now which one do you think BHP and NCM are hanging around for?? Option 1 or option 2?

Oh my giddy aunts.... it's like some around here are sleep walking they way through investing.

Sometimes you have to show that YOU CAN deliver option 1 to get the best price from option 2. It's called strengthening your position and it's clear that NCM and BHP are not going to help SOLG do that. They are no longer supportive shareholders. They are now obstructive and seeking a way to get the company on the cheap.

At last the penny seems to be dropping with you. I think you've answered your own question... if NCM and BHP have already shown that they are against stream deals (even for 1%) then how are they going to react when SOLG turn around and say Franco are doing $1bln for a 10% royalty. Boliden are doing $1bln for a 10% royalty etc etc etc. Seriously.... can't you see what lies ahead? It's not about the funding now... it's about the SOLG plan A which it to fund Alpala through various financial structures and tools.... all of which we know will pi55 off BHP and NCM. So yes... why are they still hanging about then? Perhaps it's because the reason they bought into SOLG in the first place remains the reason why they are holders now. They want the assets and they want them as cheap as possible. Majors do this by restricting the funding to these companies. They then offset the dilution story to investors with an early bid offer deal. That's how it works.

Bozi, BHP have stakes in loads of companies. But do you see them trying underhand tactics at BoD level? Do you see the chairman of these companies having to go public? Do you see them bossing the companies around?

Funding is not a problem at all. Never has been. Aligning big, medium and smaller investors needs is the hard bit. That's the problem.

Go find me another Tier 1 asset out there that is comparable to Alpala and isn't in a super majors hands.

Your attempt to suggest that SOLG is among many other options for majors out there is yet again ridiculous negativity. Of course there will be new discoveries coming up but they'll take 10 years+ before they are derisked to the level of Alpala.

And what's the problem with that then? Sharketmare? Do you think we need BHP and NCM? Do you not think there's someone out there ready to snap up their stakes??

Do you think NCM and BHP are helping our cause? If we could get rid of them, then it would be great news. Barrick, Rio, Lundin and many others would be well happy with a near 30% stake in SOLG/ENSA for about £150m. Franco stumped up $100m for just 1% royalty.

I've proven to be tough critic of SOLG in the past. But it's clear we are under attack from BHP and NCM who are trying to push us into a difficult corner. If you are investor, now is not the time to be giving support to BHP and NCM and giving your company away on the cheap. Now is the time to defend it, be positive and yes balanced views welcome but your one liner... I know of no reason to buy SOLG now (word to effect of) is just the usual type of negativity from you of late. There will and is always a solid reason for buying into SOLG whether at 20p or 40p and that's because the assets are candy to a super major and they all have sweet tooth.

Support your company as your negativity is just helping the likes of BHP and NCM.

Your last negative post was pathetic. You don't know of any reason why someone would want to buy SOLG today?? What kind of statement is that? It dismisses the fact that we are dirt cheap, M&A activity is rising and we are in a current situation which is prime time for bids and offers.

A bid will come well before SOLG get even close to talking loans and streaming deals etc - we know this as NCM and BHP have already said they don't want the asset tapped for funds. So by their own admittance, they are telling you that SOLG will be bought out as there's no alternative at all based on their outlook.

And yes... Bozi... that's the reason why someone would buy SOLG stock. Perhaps ask the likes of Norges or Blackrock why they have been buying into SOLG?

Who's the 'we' Monte?? But as you made the point, I'll refrain from posting my thoughts for a while then. Didn't know I was 'hogging' the BB but thanks for letting me know.

Ironically, the order book looked weak when the price was at 19.7p/20p levels not long ago. Now the book looks strong with heavy demand piling up in the 21's. Funny old game innit. Won't take much to get back to 26p levels. But it needs some bid rumours or decent catalysts to get past 26p again and maintain that level.

I've been buying plenty as have many others but most show some decorum and do not feel the self indulgent nature of posting trading or investing activity on bb's.. You can tell when the usual types have bought back in or grabbed a trading tranche etc as the negative posts stop lol!

It took just under a month for RIO to up their low ball Turquoise bid by 18%. Following suit, BHP should be looking at upping their low ball to OZ Minerals first week in September. Of course, it could take them longer to count the pennies behind the sofa and get the fag packets and crayons out again but the majors are in danger of creating a sceptical sentiment out there where first bids are deemed merely no more than a starter gun process rather than a fair and smartly valued pitch.

Rule number 1... never accept the first bid. Rule number 2... never accept the second bid. Rule number 3... expect the third bid to reflect the companies real interest and desires.

Going to be a very interesting September.

snowman, I think most knew what you were suggesting but the reality is, unless you are a supermajor miner, it's inevitable that you end up giving most of the cake aware to the financiers in some form or another. Royalties are not liked by the majors as it's real non risk creme of the creme stuff.

SOLG's exploration folio goes deep and requires deep pockets. They have over 60 licence blocks left all require at least $7.5m spent on them or they get handed back for zero.

SOLG don't have $430m to spend on regionals. We have $25m to spend on getting PFS2 and Porvenir PEA sorted. So dreams of doing more exploration requires either JV deals or farm outs etc or an equity raise using SOLG shares.

These big majors are finding it hard to get the low balls through. I don't think this is going to work for Turquoise hill holders either. I think they want at least another 15% on top of that.

I think the opposite. I think if they see anything slightly optimistic or inline with the ore drill prognosis, I think they'll get a rampy RNS out there and then simply caveat it with the usual one liner which says.. whilst encouraging etc etc there can not be any firm knowledge of commerciality upon completion of the well blah blah blah.

I can't remember now, did they signal early signs of discovery at Orinduik?
