Before 2020, due to limitations in the large-scale energy storage market, there were not many vanadium redox flow battery enterprises worldwide. Only 3-4 companies existed, such as Sumitomo in Japan, Dalian Rongke, BigPawer, and Beijing Puneng, which had long been dedicated to the field of vanadium flow batteries and possessed large-scale production capabilities. China holds more than 40% of the global reserves of vanadium ore and has a complete manufacturing system, leading to the concentration of most high-quality vanadium battery enterprises in China. The introduction of China's carbon neutrality strategy in 2020 opened the door for the commercialization of large-scale energy storage in the country. Vanadium redox flow batteries, known for their high safety, long lifespan, and flexible configurability in electrochemical energy storage systems, gained widespread attention. Currently, the production costs of vanadium batteries are rapidly decreasing due to the gradual formation of economies of scale and increased research and development funding. In the future, vanadium redox flow batteries are expected to become one of the mainstream electrochemical energy storage systems, occupying a crucial position in the new energy market.
