Perhaps my methodology is wrong, but using MYoung's figures, there are a total of 20,869,907 shorted shares at a total value of £33,487,992.76 or an average of 160.46 p/s. For arguments sake lets say all the shorts closed now @ 171.20 p/s, this would be worth £35,729,280. Using 688 million shares in issue, this would add about 5.19 p to the share price (i.e. £35.729280 million /688 million x 100 (to convert from pound to pence). All other things being equal and not accounted for (e.g. sentiment, news, geopolitics etc), unless my methodology for my calculation is incorrect, I am bot clear on how people are arriving at £2.50 or even over £4.00 per share just from the shorts closing. About two weeks ago two people (sorry I can't remember), posted really helpful calculations on the estimated no. of shares shorted (or at least tge ones that have to be reported); and were all to close how that might effect the share price. If possible would they be able to repost their messages please🙏.

I am more confident with better knowledge and really informative posts from others that I won't be on bread and water in retirement!! and yes at some point I will have to take thd money out where I can't be tempted to trade it and buy something which hopefully is a bit easier on the nerves. Good post Savvy. I think my biggest challenge will not be when to buy (as I am pretty content with that side) especially in a rising market; its when to sell. Like when in 2020 on Christmas Eve 🎄 AFC Energy Shares (which had been rising sharply since early November that year and was the stock I mainly held at that time) just exploded and I never had so much in the account (on paper). In my naievity of investing I thought these sort of rises were just normal and would carry on without realising that there was no real substance to the rise. I learnt over the next years this was an expensive error when they retraced all the way down to 5.5 last April. Don't get me wrong, J have traded and got my averages down over the intervening period and accumulated more shares, so it wasn't all bad. However my brain is fighting with "this time looks so different"(with genuine orders, better products, great management and far greater geopolitical and ever increasing environmental need to move away from ffs) and "don't bugger it up" and gain significant sums only for them to be eroded (or at worst lose them). Thankfully my "this time looks different" coupled with less naivety is winning!. Best.

Forgive me more experienced investors (and I realise from my limited 6 years of investing that analysts ratings can and are often way out), but can you give your views on why the consensus analysts 12 month forecast us 95 gbx even it is several weeks since the announcement which on the face of it appears a monumental collaboration with Rheinmetall to provide synthetic fuels to NATO? With the RNS reading several hundred up to 50MW sites, I take this as more than 200 and probably less than 500 up to 50MW sites. With ITMs Alpha50 costing €50M each, two hundred would be €10 billion and 500 would be €25billion. I realise the revenue wouldn't come in straight away, but say NATO wanted all these built out over 10 years and they have a lead in time of say 3 years from now before the first phase of sites start, could ITM be looking at on average between €1billion (200 sites) and €2.5billion (500 sites) annual revenue. If as someone has inferred quite commonly for this sector market CAP could be somewhere between 10 and 15 times revenue, using the lower of figures (i.e. 10 x), this would give a market CAP in my estimated time scale of the first phase being completed in year 4 (i.e 1 year after construction start in tge first phase) a €10 billion market cap!! Even if this was halved (as it says in the RNS "each up to 50MW") this would give a market cap of €5 billion; and that's without any other revenue streams (which we know not tk be the case). So my concern as well as sceptical side is asking why are the consensus analysts ratings for the forthcoming 12 months 95 gbx when tonight we are already sitting at 165.70 gbx. The potential revenue streams coming on line perhaps not straight away but in due course would indicate a way overly pessimistic consesnsus by professional analysts (from major investment organisations). I would appreciate your views that we a) are not experiencing a bubble and b) any fundamental risks as you see it which voukd derail what has been such a great past month. Mant thanks. Best.

Good one jdc1967 for getting your average down by so much. Until the Rheinmetal NATO deal, whislt I had a fair number of ITM shares already, I have increased my holding in ITM hugely. Zo fo thus I sold many AFC Energy shares as in my mind I was de-risking my portfolio. Hopefully I made the right decision. I have been so far in the red with my portfolio due to investing almost exclusively in Hydrogen stocks these past 4 years. April 2025 was the lowest point, but happily things have recovered so much I am getting towards being in the black for the first time in 5 years! Hopefully that will be the case some time this year. Wishing good fortune and cleaner environment to all holders of ITM (and green hydrogen shareholders generally). Best.

If this keeps going and stays up (unlike after the boom of late 2020/2021), I might be able to retire before state pension age! Surely ITM are in a way stronger position than back then and the urgency to wean off FF has never been stronger. GLA.

Wow just wow. I have been so in the red these past nearly 4 years due to my hydrogen shares, but the tides coming in (and fast). Brilliant this past few weeks. I might actually get in to the blue if this reaches £1.90.

Totally agree Momentum5; and just my opinion, but PLUG is a mess of a company on many levels compared with ITM power. The market caps shoukd be the other way round!!

Inverted Badger - but you may not have paid 143.9 p/s!! I'll be quiet now as I know this is an AFC forum, but hope to learn that my gut (with my second tranche) needs to win over the FOMO!! All good though and whoever you believe in there is hopefully next week and months to see how things go :-)

I made a classic mistake on Friday. Seeing ITM powers move with their very big news I have to admit selling a sizeable portion of AFC shares in two lumps (from two different ISA accounts). The first deal would have been fine (buying ITM at 109.5 p/s). But as I delayed the second buy of ITM (and I knew this was more marginal) and purchased at 143.9 p/s (ouch) although my portfolio rose significantly yesterday in hindsight I would have £3-£4K more if I had just left my portfolio be! I was banking on ITM rising further than it did, but got my fingers burnt!!

Someone last year observed the cup and handle formation on the AFC chart; and they got it spot on. Once it reached about 17-18 p/s it could have gone one of two ways. As we all know there was the raise and a reset of the share price. If that person reads this would they mind confirming who they are and what tgeir views are currently. Best regards.

The demand for energy will continue to rise with an ever increasing population (every year the world gets another 70 million people) and ever more sophisticated demands for that energy ( e.g. Data centres, AI, crypto).

The human race is going through a bottleneck where our poor earth simply cannot sustain all the rubbish we produce and the resources we use up. Governments and many of us know that we are fast running out of time. However governments are between a rock and a hard place as they need the tax revenues from oil and gas to avoid a complete mutiny; but at the same time some of them know we cannot keep on going like we are.

We are walking a tight rope and the rope is being oiled making our lives ever more precarious.

We need to come off FFs but we just can't without too much pain to our modern ways of living (at least in modernised countries).

When I go to tge shops these days it saddens me with how much junk we produce which all I see is going to go into landfill or increasingly fly tipped; and so much of this are from oil based products. We have to, as a race wean ourselves off our reliance on plastics and oil and probably the reliance on artificial fertilisers if we are to survive.

Everyone in the modern world need to live much more simply, more sustainably and be more accountable for their actions. Sadly for too long people have thought the gravy train the earth 🌎 has provided will continue ad infinitum. But what we've done over the last couple of centuries is completely unsustainable. Major cracks have appeared and unless we change (a good part of why I invested in green hydrogen stocks) we as a race are going to fall off that ever more slippery tightrope!!

Fellow investors and followers of AFC - those weird bounces in the share price later on today I can't remember occurring to AFC in a very long time! If I was a volcanologist looking at seismic movements on my graph, either this is would be an anomaly; or there is some seismic movement

going on which is not clear - yet!!

I see that...stands out like a sore thumb around all the the 10 somethings..why would they have to pay 12.47?
