I find it incredible how much the market games BT's share price. In my opinion £2 per share is on the horizon, irrespective of anything coming from the doomsayer's like UBS.

I'll be interested to see more detail on this. I wonder if BT will use small cells with small ground stations and distribute broadband using 5G frequencies, or if they'll just sell and install the Starlink terminal's and dishes on a per household basis. I think I'd prefer the cell type strategy, as this would also allow a route to BT extending 5G mobile service to remote rural locations.

That's a good thing Aus, because if VMO2 become a major competitor to BT then OFCOM will have to take their foot off BT/Openreach's back. I welcome the day OFCOM free BT/Openreach to truly compete unhindered. If we're being honest, Netomnia's business strategy is based on taking advantage of OFCOM controlled discounted Openreach pricing, if BT/Openreach are freed to compete meaningfully, then the gloves will come off and we'll see the strength of BT's position.

All very true snoopz, well put. Direct to mobile voice will only be useful in remote areas very sparsely populated areas and no threat to terrestrial providers.

If VMO2 want better coverage they should put in more cells. I can't wait to see the true performance results of direct satellite to mobile voice calling once Starlink get all their newer satellites in orbit, it wouldn't surprise me if the performance turns out to be pants.

"The founder of a challenger broadband company owned by the backer of Octopus Energy has quit suddenly amid a broader crisis in the sector.

Tim Creswick, former chief executive of BT rival Vorboss, resigned from the company he started 19 years ago with immediate effect last week following a clash with its owners.

Vorboss is one of dozens of so-called alt-net broadband firms that have sprung up in recent years to challenge the dominance of BT. It is building a full-fibre network targeting businesses in the capital.

The company was bought in 2020 by Octopus Group-owned Fern Trading, a telecoms-focused holding group. Octopus Group also owns Octopus Energy, Britain’s largest gas and electricity supplier.

Vorboss has been spending £250m to build its ultra high-speed network in London’s zones one and two, including connecting the 22 Bishopsgate skyscraper – the UK’s second tallest building behind The Shard.

But uncertainty has been growing over the company’s financial outlook, as rising interest rates drive up the cost of debt-fuelled network projects.

The latest available accounts for the year to June 2024 show pre-tax losses at Vorboss almost doubled to more than £55m on revenues of just £3.5m amid a surge in interest costs.

The company’s net liabilities stood at £87m, with Fern Trading indicating its intention to provide support for the next 12 months to keep it afloat"

Not yet drawing a state pension and don't need it to maintain our standard of living. Can you imagine what would happen if Labour stopped the state pension, it'd be hilarious to watch the fallout; That said Labour have demonstrated time and again that they have no concept of unintended consequences, look at what Brown did with the UK Gold reserves and hammering the final nails into Private sector Defined Benefit pension schemes. They only seem to care about the Public sector, who they passionately look after, they truly are feckless.

Wont affect us. We don't have cash ISA's, all the stocks in our stocks & shares ISA's are UK listed and any pension changes wont affect us either.
