(Alliance News) - Mongolian oil explorer Petro Matad Ltd said Tuesday it has completed all processes for obtaining the land permits for the Heron and Gazelle well sites.
The company is now waiting for the final signature from the local governor to allow the permits to be issued.
Petro Matad said operations at Heron are continuing as normal, with the drilling and lagging of Heron-1 set to be completed by September 9.
Meanwhile, the company's operations at Red Deer are proceeding as planned, with the well reaching its intermediate casing point and preparations underway to drill the next section.
The Heron, Gazelle and Red Deer wells are all situated in block XX in eastern Mongolia.
Shares in Petro Matad were up 4.5% at 7.52 pence on Tuesday in London.

It has been recently reported that a construction of railroad between Sainshand city of Dornogobi aimag and Altanshiree soum has completed. Last weekend, the first passenger train ran on the newly-commissioned 27,7 km long railway. The railroad was built to reach Altanshiree soum, where the first oil refinery of Mongolia with a capacity of 1.5 million tons per year is currently being developed.

The railway, with 1520 mm track gauge and capacity of 1.53 million tons of freight, is chartered for transportation of heavy-duty equipment and construction materials for the oil refinery, which is being built within the framework of the cooperation between Mongolia and India by an Indian soft loan of 1 billion USD. The construction of the oil refinery is planned to finalize by 2022.
