Bought more this morning so just shy under 30,000 shares. Long term this has a great chance of success.
I've worked in retail all my career across 20+ retailers as a consultant and in my last stint at Holland & Barrett, I saw incredible growth in ethical sales. Customers will pay a premium for ethical products. If the technology works, is scalable and we get close to griddle parity, the opportunity is huge. We don't need a huge piece of the market to succeed and there is room for many players so I'm not worried about competition, it's actually a great thing as it helps create the market. There will be customers who don't like the idea for themselves but will happily give it to their pets (who eat 30% of all meat produced). My view being here at 28p is that less than £1 whenever we exit would be disappointing given the risks of this type of share. If the market adopts this is a meaningful way however, who knows!
Hi RWT2
I think your post is sensible as people should be aware of the risks. I invest in a number of start ups and typically 9 out of 10 fail. I would say this is from start up day 1, the failure rate does diminish as you get through the funding rounds. Once institutions are on board and you get close to IPOs you can still be building your market and loss making and still see great value created. There is risk here for sure but the portfolio is maturing and we should see our first IPO this year with BlueNalu. We all want the same thing so GLA.
People are buying on potential. You only have to look at other favoured sectors like Ed Tech to see that people are investing in the next big trends. DEV is valued at £171m and has sales of c£1-2m and made a loss in it's last year. If you valued it by traditional methods you'd get nowhere near that. (That's not a recommendation just an observation). The market opportunity is massive - we just need a bit of luck and strong execution by the porfolio companies!
I’ve invested in a few start ups outside of the stock market and this is definitely the most exciting investment I have. DeuceJ - you can call me what you want if the price goes ballistic! :)
Read Moo's law and have great hopes for ANIC. Read the boards for years here but haven't posted but have invested more in this stock than any other in my portfolio. so thought it was about time. Hello to all ANIC holders and GLA!
