I hope it's just the one store as that's pathetic, as a shareholder I suggest you go have a word with the manager. Simple option from the past, when to store closes any waste is offered to staff at 50% or even 25% of cost, happy staff and better that than now paying for it to go. Anything left, phone food bank, dogs home etc and say they can have it for free if they collect. If the tills can't process the discount go for cash only, use the cash raised to buy M&S tinned goods to donate to food bank and good news story.
Smaller deliveries are understandable for risk management but only short term, staff will still be monitoring stock and can do it manually, computers are down, phones still work, fax, email?
