SotRR - not sure I see that ... It is clear that moving to AIM from the main market qualifies for 100% relief after 2 years from IHT, but the other way round (P13), talks about 'unlisted securities' ... I am no legal eagle, but does not look clear to me

I think the rational is that 70%+ investments in AIM fail as they are in the startup/early phase but they still need investors to take a significant risk. Government needs investors to take a risk (for the good of all), so passes a reward of allowing an exemption on IHT.

would need to be in top 80% to make the cut so better than £850m mc ... but Bushveld is on AIM and would have to apply to the FTSE250 .... personally I am not keen. Yes AIM is more turbulent and with games, but AIM holdings of 2 years or more are exempt from inheritance tax .. big advantage in the long term
