GOOD NEWS FOR TLY?17 Oct 2017 10:06
There surely has to be a big incentive for councils to tackle bed blocking and TLY should benefit.
Squabble about bed blocking leaves patients in limbo
The Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, and Communities Secretary, Sajid Javid, have written to local authorities, warning them that unless steps are taken to reduce the amount of bed-blocking in hospitals, they will miss out on their share of a 2 billion boost for social care promised in the Budget. Figures published last week showed an average of 5,809 beds occupied by someone who did not need to be there in August, a fall of 4 per cent annually. In response, LGA Chairman Lord Porter said: These letters are hugely unhelpful at a time when local government and the NHS need to work together to tackle the health and social care crisis. We urge the Government and the NHS to focus equally on preventing people going to hospital as we are on helping people quickly to get out of hospital.
