Another blow was the silly £1Bn rights issue during Covid , diluting everyones position whilst raking in cash on top of taking all the government furlough money . This company has been run appallingly for the last 4/5 years

Well Over £1Bn sunk into Germany and not a penny profit yet . Only my opinion but its a huge mistake taking on Germany

i bought in at 95p a few weeks ago.
I think this stock will get back to 250p but it may take 3 years.

sailing into the headwinds of national living wage, brexit, covid, labour shortages, laundry issues, driver issues, labour inflation, food inflation, energy costs surging, they have to raise the room rates , leisure budget travel will fall, 4 star corporate deal business man may be pushed into premium economy . i'm gonna hold in for the long haul even though germany is a basket case

i foresee WTB as another in the long list of companies taking on a foreign territory and failing, badly.
Germany is a mess . Big investment , big losses into a market doomed to fail. This move was all about showing how Premier Inn could scale globaly to hook a buyer. Nobody has taken the bait

I do worry about all the investment going into Germany which hasn't turned a penny profit yet, how many times have we seen this before bad investments overseas .

M&B and Wetherspoon are pretty much 100% pub businesses though (JDW does have a small number of hotels). WTB are primarily a hotel company with some pubs next door in some locations not all. The focus is on hotel reopening I'd wager

The travelodge cva was approved by the landlords , so not the best of news for Whitbread

Yes got it about 3 weeks back also gets you 10% off food and soft drinks in the pub/restaurants
Think I'd have preferred a special dividend out of the £4bn they got for Costa .

Sadly the former, travelodge will get away with it again , premier inn will suffer , too much freehold they have no get out of jail card .
