I was just offered 19.75p on buy volumes between 4k–100k. My view is that prices will likely drift gradually lower until the Ofgem announcement in the coming weeks. Positive news should at least put in a floor, while stronger detail that raises expectations and attracts buyers could push prices higher. Personally, I’m not expecting significant moves until next year - though I’m hoping it comes sooner, of course.

Today’s FT carries an in-depth article on Trump’s energy and renewables policies.

Among other points, it reinforces Gentle’s view that Invinity will need a US manufacturing base to sidestep legislation penalising sales of products containing materials sourced from adversarial countries (e.g. China).

The article also highlights that many US battery storage firms remain exposed to import rules because of China’s dominance in their supply chains. At the same time, it confirms that US-based battery storage companies have a clear runway to benefit from tax credits through to 2036 — both factors representing positives for Invinity.

The timelines for grid-scale battery development are long and inherently risky - much like the associated sales and contract cycles. Success in this space requires patience, resilience, and, at times, a bit of luck. That said, in my view, Invinity is performing well so far.

With Endurium, Invinity has a product that is competitive on an international scale, and it continues to attract credible commercial interest, exemplified by its new partnership in China. On top of that, the company is now involved in significant projects, such as Hagshaw and Killellan.

There remain uncertainties like whether Killellan will be designated as an AI growth zone, or what the Cap and Floor results for Hagshaw and other projects will reveal, but from my perspective, the outlook is very promising.

From today's FT : UK extends subsidy contracts in boost for wind and solar developers - Ministers increase ‘contracts for difference’ to 20 years in a bid to bolster investor confidence in Britain’s renewable sector.

Not headline-grabbing, but likely positive for Endurium. Extending CfD contracts to 20 years improves revenue certainty for renewable developers, which in turn supports more robust project financing. This kind of policy stability reinforces the importance of accurate LCOS (Levelised Cost of Storage) modeling - where Endurium’s cost advantage should stand out to developers evaluating energy storage options.

You will note the first paragraph in the link reads:

Invinity Energy Systems is pleased to announce it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with U.S. Vanadium LLC (“USV”) which expresses mutual intent to create a U.S.-based joint venture (“JV”) focused on building and selling vanadium flow batteries in the United States of America.

I’m not an expert, so you’ll need to verify this yourself - but when I started investing here just over a year ago, I did some research that might help as background and a starting point.

The vanadium used in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) typically comes from vanadium pentoxide (V₂O₅), and its price is usually quoted in US dollars per pound.

From memory and my notes:

Around 2015, prices were quite low—about $2–3/lb.

They peaked in 2018 at roughly $20/lb.

Since then, they’ve come down—not in a straight line—to around $6/lb today.

China is the largest source of vanadium, but processing is an important part of the equation too. Other vanadium-producing countries include South Africa, Australia and the USA.

As for costs: I’ve seen various estimates that suggest the vanadium electrolyte makes up about 40% (give or take) of a battery’s total cost. One advantage is that the electrolyte doesn’t degrade over time, and I’ve heard that leasing models for the electrolyte are available—or being developed.

My own (very non expert) view on robustness is - currently stable but vulnerable (as I say above China is the major supplier) - with some indications that the situation could be improving (new mines indicated to be opening) and again as I said above the electrolytes are I understand 100% recyclable, which is an upside.

Could this Designation Notice have implications for national security and therefore potentially create barriers for Chinese manufactured products (including batteries) to the UK grid? Or have I misunderstood?
