Valii - Sorry, but I don't have the knowledge to answer the question - but I assume the answer will depend on the duty cycle, lifetime replacements etc. and I also don't know / understand the practicalities involved.

Chat GPT suggests: Sodium‑ion may beat VRFB on raw installed cost today if you only consider cell costs, but lifetime economics can favour VRFB for continuous long‑duration daily usage.

One additional (perhaps obvious) comment - this announcement today is materially stronger than the recent Pacific Northwest testing announcement. It demonstrates that Invinity can convert technical credibility into actual U.S. sales, which has been a key question for the company.

The RNS speaks for itself - another measured step forward. Progress continues to build, the strategy is working, and while it’s still early days yet, the direction is clearly positive.

Further to my post and the RNS of 11 December regarding US testing of Endurium, the following article from Utility Dive highlights the accelerating need for long-duration energy storage:

The article underlines growing demand for storage well beyond four hours, noting in particular:

“California is calling for more than 10 GW of eight-hour duration energy storage capacity by 2031, and more than 5 GW of 12-hour duration storage by 2036.”

This comes from a competitor in the storage space, but it reinforces the same structural trend. Another (small) brick in the wall.

The latest RNS is clearly welcome. Delivering Endurium on schedule in late 2024 and completing a successful trial in Spain; upgrading UK manufacturing; and advancing partnerships while bringing new investors on board all point to a strategy that’s being executed, not just talked about. Adding key hires across the business further suggests readiness to meet expected demand in the year ahead, including under Cap and Floor. The company is clearly moving forward as today's RNS confirms, and building for the next phase. And, more importantly for me, it continues to reinforce a growing picture of competence and delivery from the current team.

Although fingers still crossed, of course.

According to ChatGPT - No other commercial grid storage systems have been publicly reported as tested at GSL yet. Testing at a DOE facility often precedes eligibility for Federal demonstrations and Procurement programs. It’s a meaningful technical and strategic milestone, especially for visibility and credibility in the U.S., but it’s not a commercially transformative event yet.

There is an interesting detail on the Argyll Data Development website front page which reads: "The first eight SambaNova units for the Killellan AI Project are planned to be online by end of Q1 2026."

I am not technical, but to me that implies most if not all supporting systems need to be built and commissioned very soon. Could this be good short-term news for Invinity?

Firstly, I think the SCR framework really only applies to financial institutions — mainly banks and insurance companies.

Secondly, I don’t think the issue in the UK is that we don’t have a Nasdaq. The real problem runs deeper — it’s cultural. While there are still plenty of start-ups, the broader public, government, and business community have lost much of the entrepreneurial drive that once made the UK so innovative.

About 30 years ago, I had a small software development company. After constantly hitting a wall of negativity here, I started flying abroad to find customers. In the end, about 95% of our sales came from overseas. Sadly, I don’t think much has changed since then.
