RE: One network to rule them all....4 Jun 2026 21:45
As ever it depends what you ask. I asked if the assets could be transferred to Openreach before a sale. This is the answer:-
yes, it is entirely feasible to transfer the assets into Openreach and sell the combined infrastructure-and-operations business as a single entity. The difficulty is not whether it can be done, but whether regulators, investors, lenders, and BT's shareholders would agree that it is the best structure.
Again, the belief that today’s structure is eternally set in stone is for the birds.
Probably won’t happen but it’s naive to believe that the financial transactions aren’t possible.
The only thing that stops any change is the last sentence of the AI response and that is getting all the stakeholders or enough of them to agree would be difficult.
Doing the accounting would be the least of the problem.
We all like a bit of confirmation bias when we get our questions. Answered but The truth is absolutely that what ever the Board of Bt wished to sell could be parcelled up financially to be sold. It’s not impossible by any means at all.
