Hi Sean. I like your informative posts. You’re one of the few on here who actually know what you’re talking about.
However, I must disagree with your statement. “ All Velocys need to do is knit together each of these proven steps”. This is actually the most difficult part. You’re correct in saying that all the individual steps are proven (to a degree) however integrating them will be far easier said than done. Look at Enerkem for example. - that have huge backers and more money then they know what do do with it and they are only just making thier waste to fuel process work. This is after many many years of smaller scale testing that they carried out.
I’ve been working in waste to energy for some time, dabbling in gasification for a while. Getting a stable, high quality syngas is very hard and that’s with working with primitive boilers, not high end FT reactors.
Again, it’s important to look at what is being proposed here, and not just an announcement from Grant Shapps. Before anyone says ‘why would Shell invest if they didn’t think it would work’’, then have a look at the number of investments Shell has made in tech that didn’t work. I’m not saying this is the case here, but it’s not a given that just because She’ll are in, its fully de-risked. Also and by the way, I’m still in this stock as despite my long term views (which have not changed), my short term view (which has also not changed, despite people on here thinking it had), is that the current interest in this field will bouy the sp, for a while. The question is, how long.
Good luck
