Viruses tend to get weaker but more infectious as time goes on.

A weaker (milder) virus - is what many of us have had all year - i.e. the vaccine.

Therefore Omicron is mother nature's vaccine - that will hopefully displace Delta - and again keep the trend of cutting the link between cases, hospitalisations, and deaths.

If Omicron is indeed mother nature's vaccine then it will be a good outcome, even if only the refuseniks get it as well.

Cinema is dying in a pandemic - numbers suggest its not and once the pandemic is over as it mostly is in peoples heads then people will want entertainment.

Unlike most companies that need to build stuff, cinemas are fortunate in that they have a very very god and established supply chain of suppliers churning out movies, they have been doing it for years, and they will keep doing it for years.

So a more milder variant replacing a more deadly variant that sounds like we are moving into a better situation after all a vaccine is a mild version of the original virus. So to be proven but mild omicron - weaker covid - is like a another vaccine - ie. training for your body to build up even more immunity.

The counter for a lockdown is are the number of people in the cohorts who have had 1st, 2nd, 3rd vaccines - over 50% of adults have had boosters and running at 750K a day - so we are boosting people much quicker than the recorded cases - however scientist will always caveat with the cases we know of.

The media are running the show, maybe to drive the adoption curve, however the vulnerable cross-section are fully vaccinated boosted and therefore are at much lower risk of hospitalisation and death. Then all the remaining cohorts are vaccinated (those that opted in of course).

If the vaccines made delta less deadly, and omicron spreads faster, but proportionally is milder then the statistics will cause a swift reversal of whatever plan-c measures are put in place.

dreamachine - science there is / will be an explosion of cases, controlling contact just reduces the peak but makes it last longer.

the difference now is that with 2-3 doses of vaccines in should translate to reduced hospitalisations and morbidity - and the science seemed to confirm the benefits of being vaccinated.
