In a bid to ramp up testings for Coronavirus in India, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has urged all the states and Union Territories (UTs) in the country to approve antigen testing in government as well as private labs. The decision of enhancing Coronavirus testing in India with antigen tests has come at a time when the total number of COVID-19 cases has surged significantly and crossed the 1-million mark. The information has been conveyed by ICMR Director General Dr Balram Bhargava in a letter to all the states and UTs, according to a report by PTI.

It is to note that many organisations have been requesting ICMR for initiation of rapid antigen testing across the country. Antigen tests are ensuring that there is an increase in testing rate and infected people are likely to be identified faster. The council has said that the mentor institutes will continue further review and approve the applications requesting RT-PCR based testing. Moreover, all antigen testing points have to be linked with RT-PCR facilities where “symptomatic negatives will be tested,” the report said.

BB - agreed. A lot of companies started applying for approval knowing their product has no accuracy. Just to exploit the opportunity. Companies like GDR are now having to join at the back of the queue.

CE Mark was dished out to anyone who claimed their test worked. If you took your dog and said he can sniff out peeps with CV19, dog would get CE Mark :)

Safy - DB estimated approvals/sales by end of June. You're basically telling us he was out by 2 months.
I don't believe that. Deadline may have been missed by a few weeks but not 2 months. We're days away from getting news and not a month.

Those that believed it would go back to £3 after placings clear, believed it at the time so you can't really blame them.
A lot of us thought product would be out on the market early/mid/late June but it didn't happen. We all make predictions we get wrong. What you have just done is make a prediction too by saying not much will happen for the next month.

We were well placed to break 20p but you can never predict anything.
