UK COVID-19 rapid antibody tests are approved for professional use and commercial distribution as mass production begins

UK medical device manufacturers start mass production of millions of point-of-care tests
The COVID-19 rapid antibody test, developed by Abingdon Health, the medical device manufacturer leading the UK-Rapid Test Consortium (UK-RTC), has received its CE mark. This means it is approved for professional use in the UK and EU.

This milestone means the rapid test, for detection of IgG antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) is now available for distribution for professional use. It will be mass produced and tests will be rolled out from the end of August. The test can be administered by healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists and healthcare workers.

Following production of tens of thousands of tests across multiple production scale batches the test has been shown to be 99.40% accurate. Testing was performed at the Ulster University and at the laboratories of Abingdon Health.

Merchant Banker - We were right. If the UK Gov takes, 200,000 a week and other parties want some, ODX will raise capacity and sell for bigger margines. When we get the gov contract, i think we might see 200k + a week. Great news :)

I've become hopeful rather than expectant here. A 35% loss can tun to a 10% profit in a day in AIM so am hoping for a small profit or to break even.

Your twitter says EUA have it and they can RNS anytime. My point, in accordance with the rules, EUA don't have it yet. WHEN (not if) they receive it, they HAVE to RNS. Get it?

mac4671 - ty. the formal issuing of the license has not taken place. When it does, EUA have to RNS. However, i think they can pause that process till time is right, wink

How can anyone be achieved IF they take this long to approve test kits?
I think Safy checked when the application was submitted and again, it could have been done earlier.

NCYT was let in without much verification as it was the only test out there at the time.

note that we got our CE Mark in May! It looks like our WHO is still weeks away.

They cannot obtain a license and keep quite or release the new when they want.

In your logic, eua would have the flanks license too and keeping it quite for now.

last update also told us some African countries have their own approval process. I would expect at least a few to approve us, with our CE Mark etc. If Africa is 1 of GDR's focus, where are we on that?

I contacted our PR company, all i got was a copy and paste from the RNS.

Someone on this BB said, they could at least make a video on how their kit works etc and post it on twitter , youtube etc. It helps the SP. They've done nothing but sit back and say we're waiting for approvals.

People WILL always do what's best for them financially.

They will sort this out and move forward. Point scoring and all that none sense don't make you money. The one thing peeps at BoD level know is how to make money. Not lose it.

LB28 , Technick, It's clear that the plan has not worked. The deadline DB gave us was end of June.
A 4 week delay points back to DB and not 3 different regulatory bodies. DB forward planning is in question. He seems a bit out of his depth and SP is reflective. He should have employed peeps with experience. I think safy said he employed 1 temp on a 3 month contract.
