"Russia has launched a missile strike targeting north-eastern Ukraine as US and Russian officials met to push for a pause in the war.

After Monday's attack, which injured dozens in the city of Sumy, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia must end strikes instead of "making hollow statements about peace".

Optimistic US ambitions for ending this war have had a head-on collision with reality. Finding common ground for even a partial ceasefire is proving a highly complex task.

Both Russia and Ukraine have accused the other of undermining efforts to reach a pause.

This is not something that can be solved quickly. So in the current talks, the aim has been to come up with a kind of "ceasefire light", focusing on the Black Sea.

There was no immediate word on whether an agreement had been hammered out or progress made in Monday's talks with Russia".

In regards to today, the sp has been Red two days running now and I haven't seen one piece of press that does not include the EU having boots on the ground, should a deal be hashed out.

I am no war monger, but like I found it hard to fathom how anyone believed Putin this week who went on to break this week's agreement, I equally can't believe those same members believe a deal will be struck where Putin has continually stated "Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin have said repeatedly they would not agree any ceasefire if European and other forces were deployed to Ukraine.".

As such, I can't see investors keeping their money in here over the weekend, when so much could and looks like going terribly wrong. Too much uncertainty.

Help me to understand this... Putin has stated flat out there is no way EU boots will be accepted in Ukraine. Zelenskyy isn't doing a deal without security. Which means this war carries on. Am I wrong?

This means this share will drift where it was before Peace were ever mentioned. I don't think I'm wrong Matthew, but time as always will tell.

I was very pleased to read this today, and glad many are wise to what Putin is up to. Europe is wasting no time im getting ready to gearing into action, as they know from history and Putin's latest breaking of agreement that peace will not come, as I had always thought. Let's not forget Putin has completely ruled out boots on the ground, so from that alone it's clear there will be no ceasefire.

I think too that as this Sp has been Red for two days now, others could be thinking the same.
