Angle do have a unique machine that CAN catch circulating tumour cells (CTC’s) 99% alive and intact so ideal for analysis. That is the bottom line. Sales of the actual machines themselves have not been as good as hoped by a long way. Clearly most Pharma Co's did not want to invest in the assays (tests) you need to develop to actually analyse the CTC's to obtain the information being looked for. This has delayed cancer research in my opinion. However, Angle always had the fallback position of developing assays themselves and also offering to develop assays for clients themselves. Angle now offer the following Laboratory services:-
Enumeration of epithelial, mesenchymal and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transitioning (EMT) CTCs and CTC clusters
DNA Damage Response (DDR) proteins
PD-L1 protein expression analysis
HER2 (appeared in the last month or so)
In development:-
CTC DNA / CtDna combined profiling
We will see what the interims are Thursday. It will be interesting to see how the sales of the Parsortix machines have fared bearing in mind they are in excess of £55,000 each and every time a blood sample is analysed a cassette is used and they are what... £200 each is it? The PD-L1 protein expression analysis and especially the HER2 one point to an exciting future, let alone the CTC DNA / CtDna combined profiling which IMHO will be in huge demand by any Company doing an Immunotherapy cancer drug trial. I believe the CTC DNA / CtDna combined profiling would enable them to select the best candidates, monitor the cancer during treatment and see the effect of the drug more quickly at the end.
All IMHO.
