The fact that KAV tweeted about their funding position followed by Ben's tweet makes me suspicious. It could be another placing to fund rig acquisition, which I would certainly not see as bad news. It could also be just a tweet thanking the placees due to genuine gratitude with no further related action. We will find out soon.

I agree it's too big for KAV to handle alone. The deeper drilling required to prove up one licence area for sale probably means that even that is beyond the means of KAV unless they do a significant equity deal with Equity Drilling. I would be surprised if we could get a good deal for a JV on our whole KSZ area - we probably could on our current licence area. However, Ben's talk of very animated discussions about how to proceed makes me wonder about a spinoff. I realise the mechanics of how a spinoff would work could vary significantly but I would be disappointed if we did a spinoff of the KSZ.

They wouldn't do a spin off of their KSZ project??

I shall reserve judgement until Monday morning. I'm not expecting it to bad news long term but I suspect we are about to have a short term blip.

I see Siege put in an application for a small scale mining licence on Star Zinc on the 6th September.

I didn't pick up a lot of new info. The one thing that was confirmed that I had already assumed was that they have been drilling the licences to be sold to SFR as well as those that have been retained. This was to keep the licences 'in good order and we will get reimbursed for this work. I took it as definite confirmation that we have been drilling our retained licences in spite of the lack of news. We are due the annual report before the end of September so I think we will get an update on the Botswana exploration before then. He did also mention our other projects and revenue from SZ but I'm not holding my breath on those.

I didn't realise MTR was a CB company. I know you have stated this previously - could you please expand on the connection?

Me personally - I wouldn't count on the success payment.
That said, one of the licences being sold is in the expansion area that Sandfire are focussing exploration on at the moment. If we are very fortunate and it contains enough copper to trigger the payment it could come in a relatively short time frame.

Yep - very good.
They are getting approx £2.4m for some of the licences they bought last year and also have the chance of a success payment further down the road. They have retained plenty of licence area to allow then to explore the KCB. Look at the MCAP. We are also waiting on some results from exploration of their retained licences.

They've made it to the top of the leader board so may get a bit more attention.

I'm pretty sure from the map I have that Sandfire already have a block of licences just above KAVs block in the KSZ. If we're sharing data with them we need to ensure that we get some benefit. They may use it to aid any exploration that they do on their existing licences.

Hopefully the contract states the correct number of licences :-).

Yep - excellent news.
The SFR share price for the transaction has been kept at A$5.227 so we get some benefit for that wait!
Will be interesting to see the Botswana exploration announcement....

The annual report is due in the next 2 week's. They will struggle to delay this again! Should be an interesting read.

Hi Professor,
Ben suggested that they wanted to put enough holes in this licence area to enable them to package it up (and sell it I think?). I can't recall where he stated this. From recall the intention was to sell it and use the funds for exploration on the other licence areas - hopefully we would keep an NSR.
