ps...i have accounts with lloyds,barclays,halifax and the nationwide and they are all pi ss takers regards savings rates...i was offered 1.65% by close brothers but would have ti tie up the cash for a year........UK banks have to change imvho...gl all

for the record im not here to promote chase.....i have opened an account with them transferred in and out..spent online and in the hight st with card and google pay...spoke to their customer services in edinburgh..to test the efficiency of their product/platform...the one fly in the ointment was they're not signed up to CoP(confirmation of payee) so it can be a bit disconcerting to begin with apart from that ive found no problems....ive now transferred the fca compensation limit to thier savings account ...any probs i will let the BB know...im mid 60's so im no tech wizard........my point is this these digital platforms are shaking up the whole retail banking industry..i look forward to the uk banks improving...

fleccy..which brings us back to my original post ...lloyds etc paying 0.01-0.05% int on instant access savings chase paying 1.5 % up to &£250k ....how are they going to address this or bury their heads in the sand.....probably a silly question

i still believe chase uk and lloyds would make a good merger/fit...chase renowned for merging /takeover as they have done in the states over the years.....im probably going to get shot down in flames over suggesting such a thing and would welcome opinions why it couldn't/shouldn't happen.....

lloyds and other major uk banks paying 0.01-0.05% interest for instant access savers ....chase paying 1.5% instant access up to £250k......are they just going to ignore it and hope they go away.....

barclays getting mauled this morning re a trading error..you would of thought there would be more back up /risk checks....who knows what some of these huge banks are hiding .......as highlighted by livestock while trying to transfer some money to chase uk they wouldn't send a confirmation of payee CoP......gla

theosus i agree about the branch network although the property value must be very large/huge ...the ready built huge uk customer base in one fell swoop must interest them...

stagecoach...im not so sure re barclays jpmorganchase all ready have a massive international trading presence it looks like they want a large domestic presence in the uk and lloyds would be the fit imo

probably sounds a bit far fetched but jpmorgan chase are so enormous i wonder if they would/have ever considered a takeover/merger with lloyds bank....not beyond the realms of possibility imho.....

i agree theosus...market share is what its about atm for them....digital platforms shaking up the whole industry..no wonder lloyds closing branches and investing heavily in digital...gl
