I heard somewhere that if petrol prices were to rise like gas etc....then by january it would cost 4 to 5 hundred pounds to fill your car up (allegedly).....wouldn't be allowed to happen.....enough now with this leadership election....get back to governing...gla

music....they were dammed if they did and would of been dammed if they didn't lockdown,make masks compulsory etc etc...they got slaughtered for allowing the cheltenham festival to take place and other events......what don't you get nobody knew how bad things were going to get..there are many victims of the pandemic even now i know some elderly people who are still wary of going out ..the very young re schooling ..20 to 40 yr olds whose plans and ambition s put on hold ,many peoples mental health etc etc not forgetting the poor souls who died....i know one thing when the pandemic kicked off you certainly didn't know with any certainty where it was going and how bad it was going to get.....gl music.

the large energy companys are desperate for the govt to cap the rise in energy costs...there by putting the debt onto the govt and ultimately the taxpayers...the energy companys are fearful of mass non payers and direct debit defaults ....what are they going to do cut thousands of peoples supplies off...i dont think so..there would be carnage.....gl

Re government response to covid and current critics and stone throwers...hindsight is a wonderful thing..no one really knew what was going on and in the initial stages the hospitalizations/death rate looked pretty scary..indeed the whole world was in a panic...they made mistakes for sure but please remember it was totally unprecedented in relative modern times gla.

be watching durable goods data in the US today....along with the unfortunately named jackson hole later in the week......i expect an increasing focus on this awful/terrible war in ukraine as autumn approaches.....we really need our govt to move on and start making fundamental decisions asap......got plenty of unspent dividend money and sept is a big dividend month with various shares...will once again buy in dips ....a few coming back on the radar....gla.

Morning livestock will be interesting.......Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will deliver his keynote address at the Kansas City Fed's two-day annual economic symposium at the Wyoming retreat on Friday. His highly anticipated speech on the economic outlook could signal how high U.S. borrowing costs may go and how long they will need to stay there to bring down soaring inflation.U.S. rates market pricing has the Fed raising rates to a peak around 3.65% early next year, little changed over the past fortnight. But traders have trimmed the amount of rate cuts they expect between March and December next year to 40 basis points from 60 bps.

That said, some Fed officials recently have highlighted the dangers of raising rates too aggressively. Will Powell nod to the threat to growth from higher rates, or lean on the more customary inflation-busting rhetoric?
