My son is a head line chef in a couple of years old Marstons rotisserie restaurant, which also has a 30 bed Marstons Inn next door. It’s normally busy in the week and heaving at weekends. He says it’s been woefully quiet this week. I expect a similar effect throughout the whole estate. Hopefully folk start to get a bit of cabin fever and brave the beast this weekend and treat themselves. I have just cashed in some premium bonds after winning zilch last month (today I find I won 3 x £75 for March!) and am looking to get some more shares in MARS when the withdrawal through. The current sp is good for me. So will be buying next week as long as it doesn’t rocket.

Remember this was a massive fail in 2016 when Sainsbury’s revived the NETTO brand and opened a load of stores.

Looks like they are going to be putting their faith into tea rooms and hotels, licensing their brand to existing hotels, what does this entail exactly I don�t know, do you after buying a licence agree to furnish, decorate your hotel using LA products and then LA take a slice of your profits too? Refurbish regularily as dictated by LA. Then there is to be Tea rooms, knocking out eggs benedict brunch with unlimited prosecco for �20, t and c apply. Not sure if this is the way forward but everything else seems to be failing, it would be a shame to see this British institution go the same way as some of our other Great British high street stores.

I watched dispatches on catch up last night, no surprises there for me as I work in A hotel. The towels they use to clean are already dirty already and are going to the launderette as they are due to be changed anyway. When I stay in any hotel no matter what company, I always, on arrival, remove excess pillows from the bed and put them somewhere they don�t get creased so they can be reused. on departure, strip the bedding, get all my rubbish in the bin, tie back curtains, put the remote where I found it along with the info/brochures etc. Draw the shower curtain along to start it drying, get the dirty towels together for them. Anything that can help these people get their job done quicker and on to the next room is really appreciated by them as is a couple of quid left on the side. Top tips: if you are going to have a cuppa, (something I never do) give that mug a good wash first, as it has probably been rinsed under the bathroom tap and dried with the multi purpose towel. If there is some kind of throw on the bed then take it off, fold it up and put it out of the way, on no account lay on it or do anything else on it! This will have had every kind of activity carried out upon it that you can imagine and they are very rarely cleaned. Take some alcohol gel with you, put a blob on some tissue and clean that loo seat properly as well as the flush lever, door handles, kettle handle, remote control. I know I sound like I have OCD, perhaps I have, but why take the risk.

Must admit when I�m out having a beer I do look for ones that Marston�s owns or has the licence for UK distribution etc. Don�t want to be lining the pockets of the investors in other breweries!

Should see a nice rise today as divi�s reinvested in the company.

Marstons said it received a product recall, affecting 18 out of its 1500 sites. I know the one near me has taken steak and gammon off the menu and is temporarily sourcing whole chicken from a nearby supermarket which I also have shares in, so, not all bad news!

Shares in JD Wetherspoon jumped 12.4% by the close on Friday as the pub group reported a rise in full-year sales and profits. They were the top riser on FTSE250. Hopefully, we get similar news and gains soon. Bargain at this price, had two top ups this month already.

It beggars belief that you now hold at least £270,000 of shares (calculated using your buy and your following purchase of a few million) yet you don't know when the results are due or when the dividend pay date is. Should you not have at least researched this before investing such a large amount of money? Anyway, good luck on reaching 15p as his would give you a £135,000 profit.

I read they have an excellent canning facility. Something Marstons currently does not have. So we shall see some of the Marstons beers in cans now perhaps? This is cheaper than bottling process I should think.

If you like dividend paying shares you are in time to jump aboard Howdens Joinery, HWDN EX-div 18-may-17 Paid 16-Jun-17 Amount 7.40p They are currently buying back shares every day, I can see the sp being £5 by ex-div date. Currently £4.69.

Last year it was: ex-div 26-May-16. paid 5-July-16. Amount 2.60p So we are looking at a few days either side of these dates.

A Laura Ashley boss and his former wife embroiled in a multi-million pound divorce case have been told they could live in "considerable comfort" by a judge if they settle their differences. Pauline Chai, 70, of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, claims their assets are worth at least £205m and wants half. Khoo Kay Peng, 78, a non-executive chairman of Laura Ashley Holdings, argues she should receive about £9m. Mr Justice Bodley told the couple: "You are not in the first flush of youth." He added: "If arrangements were made, you could live the rest of your lives in considerable comfort." More than £6m has been spent on lawyers since their marriage broke down. The couple, who both come from Malaysia, married in 1970 and have five children. The hearing in the Family Division of the High Court in London comes after Ms Chai claimed victory in the fight over jurisdiction for the case, after saying the pair had moved their home to Berhamsted before separating. Dr Khoo had argued that because their marital home was in Malaysia, a judge there should make decisions over money division. He labelled Ms Chai a "forum shopper", believing she wanted to have the hearing in England because an English judge would be more generous. The hearing is due to continue on Wednesday.
