Mass vaccination of the whole population in a matter of days or even a few weeks would certainly be an ideal situation but it’s NOT going to happen.

Not sure even with the Oxford vaccine there would be enough trained staff and logistical support around the country to deliver it so quickly ( I have even considered the Army Medical units)!

In the meantime, we would still need to prioritize the best we can and for me my earlier position on NHS as a priority would stand.

I will NOT differentiate between the ranks in a hospital as to who should or shouldn’t have the vaccine! You either vaccinate the whole medical staff or you don’t do it at all. Period.

They ALL take risks by just turning up at work every day regardless of how hard and/or valuable their job is.

They are all parts of a the same machinery and depend on each other to make the whole thing work.

My personal priority any day of the week would be to vaccinate ALL medical staff first.
For two main reasons:

A) As a Thank You from society to them for the hard work and risking their lives on daily basis

B) It makes total practical sense to have a confident, healthy and motivated NHS to deal with Covid and all other Non-Covid medical issues that still need to be addressed

I see the point you are making and it is certainly something to think about.

Where things can get rather complicated is that given the different age groups below 30 (particularly below 11) the rate and ratios of infection and ability to transmit the virus differs significantly.

To pinpoint optimum permutations with which the final death toll ( regardless of age) can be kept at the lowest would prove to be a hard practice.

One would hope that our scientists would be constantly running stats modelling and algorithms by which the most optimum vaccine administration models would be plotted, using all constants and variables in the equation.

We know we will be defeating this virus over the course of 2021, but at what final cost it remains to be seen.

The issue is that the super spreaders (mostly 30 years and under) are the group least likely to suffer or die from the virus.

So let's stick with the Elderly and clinically vunrable as the priority groups.
