HH, I think Lombard could be positioning for a full exit and that could require the settlement news to achieve that. I also think they are the good guys in this, they went overweight in shares when it was needed and they have been measured and responsible in selling. Certainly its affected the SP in the last 6 months, but it does reflect the strength on the buy side.

Feeks, I think the deal with DOW was based on expected manufacturing capacity and location to end users Dow did sign a supply agreement with LG. That agreement was one Samsung probably did want to flourish and could have influenced decisions on how to keep there plans secret. LGs cfqd TV never got off the ground and pre production samples got poor reviews. It's not possible to piece together all the maneuverings at the time, but it looks like DOW and Nanoco were the loosers. Could be the partnership is re convened.

Royalties are going to be a tricky nut to crack interms of calculations, this tech is going into numerous uses. Its interesting to see the recent trend to use Cadmium Free in product descriptions.

Some may see IP licence agreements as conflicts, mostly they are partnerships often clauses to revist aspects as events change. Not many commercial arrangements survive if they are one sided or aren't fair.

Often royalty calculations are endlessly variable. In a fast moving consumer technology they might use a sliding scale, stating at x value when there is a price premium and reducing over time as price competition increases. As a licencee you don't want to handicap your IP with usage constraints, royalties being one.

The pace of technology is fast, Samsung already taking and showing the next step, possibly the 3 or maybe 4 generation QD tv along with advanced manufacturing.

Not sure about rumours, but Samsung using DOW would've alerted the market which was their next technology and they wouldn't have exclusivity. If those two things where available it not certain if they would've paid the price anyway. This was the point they decided to take the tech. They had a road map from that point in time to today, a number of junctions and turns along the way, but they had the strategy.

At the time it was stated that Nanoco had met the requirements required and speculation was the project was shelved due to power usage was too great, and that's what needed to be resolved.

Edelman mentioned in a interview 2020 that is would take 2 years and cost about $10 mil to arrive at a trial. He was correct on time scale. He also mention orders to STM and othe display companies. Plus 2 projects for the large US corporation, one of which is complete.

Any company using Samsung panels could be covered in the world peace settlement. Sony is one, not sure about Hisense but they may be another. TCL have there own, but not sure about the supply chain, likely a target. Your correct they will go after them not sure. If they fall outside 'The Settlement'
