Max 2 days left28 Apr 2025 17:04
If they stick to the schedule, we should know within two days if our gut instincts were right.
Here’s why I’m confident. On the first drilling attempt, we hit a high-pressure oil reservoir so strong it overwhelmed the safety equipment and caused oil to gush uncontrollably, like something out of the Beverly Hillbillies, for four days before it was brought under control. After that, the long wait began.
Now, we’ve redrilled almost exactly the same location and completed a 5,500-foot (1.7 km) lateral, with 97% of the drilling staying inside the Cane Creek reservoir. Along that 1.7 km lateral, 98 cuts were made across 16 stages, each carefully targeting the most productive parts of the reservoir. The well has also been treated with an acid wash, a method that previously showed improved recovery rates.
Colin has recorded that the pressure response during the cutting operations suggests the wellbore has strong connectivity to the highly pressured Cane Creek reservoir — the same one that overwhelmed us at the start.
Fingers crossed.
