Japan is preparing a big shift on nuclear power, with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announcing plans to look at the construction of new plants, in what would be a break with more than a decade of energy policy.

With energy prices soaring in the wake of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kishida said Japan would restart more nuclear plants shut down after the 2011 Fukushima disaster and also study the development of next-generation reactors.

The prime minister had already announced the restart of some plants after Tokyo came close to suffering a power blackout this year, but his tentative plans for new nuclear reactors would be a U-turn on post-Fukushima policy.

Meanwhile the Eco Fascists running Spain into power cuts do not like Nuclear Power.....Why?

"Good morning. The global energy crisis deepened yesterday as another surge in natural gas prices in Europe and the US threatened to push some of the world’s largest economies into recession.

Gas markets in Europe jumped as much as 10 per cent to as high as €251 a megawatt hour, equivalent in energy terms to more than $400 a barrel of oil, as traders raced to secure supplies ahead of the winter. Prices have more than doubled from extremely elevated levels in June, though they later eased marginally yesterday.

Russia has restricted supplies to western powers in retaliation for their backing of Ukraine following Moscow’s invasion. European politicians have accused the Kremlin of weaponising supplies."

I just wish that HBR sp was above £5 on the basis of this analysis!

Saab I bought 1000 shares via HL for 135p so happy with that but.....888 management are rubbish and the William Hill deal hangs like an Albatross around their necks.

I am cautiously pessimistic but don't see 888 going bust!

I might buy a few later in the hope that the sp recovers a little next week. Essentially over the past 3 years this has gone from a buy and hold to a short term trade vehicle with which to buy dips sell on the upticks and pick up dividends.

$60 million a month.....if the P6 well continues to deliver the same for the next 6 months how much cash would HUR be sitting on and what would be a sensible share price? In reality/forecasts that well could be pushing out oil for another couple of years with a sensible maintenance prog in place.

For what it is worth I bought more shares today.

HEINEKEN is preparing to cut beer production at its European manufacturing plants if faced by a severe gas shortage over winter.

The brewery giant behind Amstel and Fosters said there was a growing “availability risk of natural gas” in the region.

Worse than I thought.....no beer!

I am surprised the sp here is not higher. If the above is correct then non Russian gas supplies in EUroland are going to be in demand this winter.

Agreed this sucks if you entered at a higher price but fortune favours the brave.
There is an argument that this is :
a. A good entry point.
b. The time to average down and trust your instincts
c. DYOR!

Also inclined to add....why?
The dividend and chance of a bid as the industry consolidates.

Good Op Update from HUR today but sp unmoved!
They are debt free this month and still producing 8,600 bopd.
