There are an awful lot of well genned up people on this board that have explained in detail and taught me a lot about the business and to all here I am very thankful.
I do really hope that we all get to see this company go the distance and return the value we all believe it should deliver.

I'm bemused at WHY the price has dropped quite so much as no BAD news other than maybe Bettham announcing he has already sold... so that should take care of 4% drop and the pursuing lemmings maybe another 4%.So the rest of the drop is attributed to what exactly?Seems to me that it IS being manipulated big time and should really be investigated in my opinion (if only there was a body that had the balls to do it).But on the bright side, there's no reason why this cant go back up to 15 and beyond for those very same reasons (assuming Beethams shares are now in someone elses hands.I may not be the brightest of sparks, but I ain't stupid !GLA

Morning Hopefullygold, fully aware that mining IS inherently dangerous and am totally sure that Newcrest are not the only company to experience accidents along the way... but as you say, there have been no reported accidents since 2015 as far as we know, so why dwell on historical news with negativity implied ?
Think you mean Ammonium Nitrate with regards Beirut.... not sure if this type of explosive is also used for blasting by Newcrest, so won't comment on that one.
Good luck with your knowledge research, but would advise to look and report good and bad together rather than implying only the historical bad things are current !

There are many things that can influence what happens to a share, not just the senior management.
In my view, there are far more positives here than possibilities of negatives ... but like many have been expensively caught out in the past elsewhere (so far more careful nowadays).
Of course, everyone makes their own choices (following lemmings is not an excuse once you've jumped) so you should satisfy yourself instead of going with the flow on a BB's 'advice'... whether that is 'ramped' or negativity posted by those with their own agendas.
Personally i've been in over 5 years and see this as a fairly safe bet... but look into it yourself..... great help available from Greatlands own website, RNS's, and nowadays GGPhelp.com !

Morning Speedie, I understand your thoughts and reasoning for you to base your decision (be it right or wrong).
My own view is that ALL brokers are out to use every opportunity to make themselves loads of money with little regard for the humble PI.... IF you can recommend one that doesn't come under that banner, then please do elaborate !
We do need a new Broker regardless, so personally i'll take it as it comes and reflect on it as it goes along !
Hope things carry on being prosperous for you regardless of what the result is and the decision you make regarding that news mate !

Morning Fred, Plenty of conversation the other night (was very nice to meet you btw).
You should have gleaned enough experience from your past investments to realise there are always possible down sides, but there is plenty of indicative facts been provided for you to make an evidential case as to why you chose this share.
Is it 100% safe?.... obviously NO !....... but is the likelihood of it being a pretty safe bet?.... personally I believe it is probably the safest bet i've had, but you have to make your own call !
Really good luck to you no matter which way you go in the end !

Unfortunately people base their reasoning way beyond my understanding in some cases, however they have to live with the consequences of their own decisions (e.g. there really is NO excuse to start blaming others for their subsequently wrong decisions).
Have made many wrong decisions in my life and been had over by bloody good conmen in my time... an expensive way to learn, but down to me and my own decisions !
