It does seem out of the question that this resource will not be mined, especially for the Ecuadorian economy, however, its a question initially of whether the next step to vote on a referendum is legal in their country.

If it does go to the next step obviously the company and the government will no doubt step up their community presence in the said areas.

Surely for future progress in Ecuador they need to change the law so the protesting can be done before an asset is proved up and not after.? This would make much more sense.

I wonder if the government are now in the process of working out the best way forward to get this sorted once and for all ? after all, if they are serious about being a mining friendly country, surely this needs to be amended in law?

Its a simple question, which you want answer, if you say after the result comes out that you sold, then you sold at a loss.

What I cant grasp is surely its common sense to introduce a policy where new claims can be contested but existing ones allowed to continue, unless there is a danger to the water supply and/or is not responsible/sustainable.

its not about being negative , its about a concerted effort to undermine and bully regulars so the only people posting are them.

NM needed to say SOLG is not just about Alpala, we know this already, however lets face it, we have spent hundreds of millions and several years proving it up, so most of us won't be too pleased if it turns out Alpala is taken from us.

I'm guessing if the SP did drop further, temporarily, it would be a great way of one of the majors getting us on the cheap for the rest of our portfolio?

I don't see why BHP couldn't be adding a few although I suspect they are all holding what they have until the decision.

IMO Certainly a vote of confidence if none of the main holders have sold any to hedge their bets.
