Between January and July, YLB marketed 770 tons of lithium carbonate
The National Strategic Public Company of Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB) marketed, between January and July of this year, just over 770 metric tons of lithium carbonate, which represents an economic income of Bs 46.9 million, reported Omar Miranda, head of the Sales and Marketing Department of the state-owned company.
"770 tons of lithium carbonate have been marketed, from the beginning of management until July, compared to 2023, in all that management 150 tons were marketed, then, there is a percentage increase of approximately 413%, Translating it into income, in 2023 there was Bs 19.8 million and so far in the current management, we have Bs 46.9 million," he explained.
According to data from the Marketing area, in the first half of this year, YLB marketed 270 tons of lithium carbonate to markets in Latvia, France and China, the latter requiring 100 tons more, starting in the second half of the year.
The most recent sale was made with the Chinese market for 400 metric tons. The state-owned company also recorded lower sales as samples at the request of companies from India, the Netherlands, Chile and China.
Miranda indicated that, to date, the state-owned company has advanced negotiations for the sale of another 20 tons of Bolivian lithium carbonate.
"In this month of August we already have advanced negotiations for an additional 20 tons of lithium carbonate, as well as we have arrangements for the shipment of samples to different customers, that is, the commercial management is carried out at all times and responds clearly to the dynamics of the market," he said.
