I listened to Marco Rubio speak in 2015 at the Senate about Irans ambitions and that was over a decade ago, since then they have built up their arsenal, built their navy their boats have a great presence in the strait, the speedy ones swarm quick. And they fund neighbouring proxies to cause disruption. Sanctions have had no effect, and if they was to go Nuclear its Check mate. Its already difficult and expensive for western nations to operate in the area as it is, but that makes them impenetrable and can do whatever they please. You can't attack, invade or operate in that area.

North Korea is a prime example, can't invade, can't attack or Seoul, Tokyo etc, gone. So we have one mad person holding a weapon, with an impenetrable location staved of by the threat of mutual destruction.
