The government has extended the voluntary National Insurance deadline to 31 July 2023 to give taxpayers more time to fill gaps in their National Insurance record and help increase the amount they receive in State Pension.

This comes after members of the public voiced concern over the previous deadline of 5 April 2023.

The deadline extension was announced via a Written Ministerial Statement earlier today (7 March 2023) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is urging taxpayers to ensure they do not miss out.

Anyone with gaps in their National Insurance record from April 2006 onwards now has more time to decide whether to fill the gaps to boost their new State Pension. Any payments made will be at the lower 2022 to 2023 tax year rates.

Thus £1,000 invested returns £4,000 or £2,200 after adjusting for inflation.

The higher the earnings, the higher the share price ,so after just a few years the shares are way higher than your original purchase price, thus you risk of losing what you put in on day one rapidly goes down.

Shares are all about growth ::
Average growth rates are simply not good enough.
As I have previously explained for a share to outperform over the long term one requires fast profit and dividend growth.
Most companies also require growth in turnover.

My single share Triad Group Plc has been in the process of dumping low margin contracts , and replacing them with high valued projects, delivered through their own, in house permanent staff. ( Not previously used ,contractors .)

Proof of this can be found in company statements in the last set of interim results.

Quote:: “ Our years of heavy reliance on operating on high volume, low margin principals are over”

The result of the above is to give an extra liftoff in potential profits ,WITH FLAT TURNOVER .

Thus if turnover also rises at the same time, one sees the magic of a potential re rate of the shares.

One then has the most powerful ingredients to push any share price higher.

Turnover increase
Margin increase
Profit increase
Dividend increase.

Going forward, if you can keep your fixed overheads under control, and lift just turnover your onto an absolute winner.

Let me explain

The general overhead of a business can be just about fixed no matter the size of the company .

As revenues rise the trick is to keep the general overhead rising at a much reduced rate.
(This only works for some businesses models.)

Triad Group Plc does not need extra office space as personnel numbers grow . ( Home working and working on the client’s premises.)

The board size can remain the same. ( Director buying of the shares has been non stop ).

Turnover hits a tipping point when high gross margin drops through to high net margin on every extra pound of income, over a certain level.

This is what I am personally hoping for over the next few years, simply because, it can propel a companies shares literally, through the roof.

The UK's Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) decision to back proposals to expand auto-enrolment (AE) marks a ‘landmark day' and is ‘fantastic news' for pensions, International investment's sister brand Professional Pensions has reported covering industry reactions.

On Friday (3 March) the government backed the private members' bill put forward by MP Jonathan Gullis - a bill which looks to grant two extensions to AE - abolishing the lower earnings limit for contributions and reducing the age for being automatically enrolled to 18.

This bill - the Pensions (Extension of Automatic Enrolment) (No. 2) Bill - was originally introduced at the end of last month and received its second reading last week.

Lane Clark and Pea**** (LCP) partner Steve Webb - the former pensions minister who has previously chided the government on the slow pace of its AE reform - celebrated the move.

He said that, while the Bill will have to complete its remaining stages in the House of Commons and will also need to be approved by the House of Lords, this was now "unlikely to be a problem with government support".

He said: "This is truly a landmark day for UK pensions. With pensions policy having been stuck since the 2017 review there was a real risk that the gains from AE would be stalled. Now that the government is backing the necessary legislation the way is cleared for younger workers to be brought in and for lower earners in particular to build up pensions more quickly. The new minister, Laura Trott, deserves huge credit for her role in unlocking this logjam".

This includes improved technical expertise within departments, consistently faster procurement by all departments, increased appetite for appropriate risk-taking and improved adoption of innovation to deliver government objectives.
The Cabinet Office is working on a cross-government action plan with departments that have a significant procurement spend. Initial work will include:
? Setting a minimum proportion of government procurement expenditure to directly support innovation in critical technologies.
? Scaling the Small Business Research Initiative to support our critical technologies.
? During 2023, progressing the Procurement Reform Bill through Parliament, to create a simpler and more flexible, commercial system making it easier for new entrants such as SMEs.
? Working with contracting authorities throughout 2023 to initiate culture change towards innovation across the public sector, through the training and guidance that will support the implementation of the Procurement Reform Bill.

A huge government effort is being made to put SME’S in the frame.

For investors wanting a slice of the cake , options are extremely limited when it comes to those listed on the London Stock Market.

SME’S not listed will obviously attract capital, but small private investors will not get a look in.

If one reads Triad Group Plc interim results , reference is made to the work they are doing for the Metropolitan Police. Looking at that report, it appears the Met is in dire need of Triads highly skilled consultants for the foreseeable future.

It is stunningly bad news for Britain that Arm chose to float in New York rather than in London, but it should come as no surprise. It will get a higher valuation there.

People will trot out all sorts of reasons, including the rules of the Financial Conduct Authority, the UK remaining an unfashionable place to invest and the market being narrower. But I think more than anything else the explanation boils down to this. The two key classes of British institutional investors – pension funds and insurance companies – do not invest in British companies.

The most recent figures come from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) which, as I pointed out a couple of weeks ago, show that UK pension funds own only 1.8 per cent of UK quoted securities, while insurance companies own only 2.5 per cent. Individuals own 12 per cent and unit trusts (mostly owned by individuals) a further 7.4 per cent. So who does own Britain? Well, other financial institutions had 12.8 per cent but the lion's share is foreigners: at the end of 2020 they held a record 56.3 per cent of all quoted shares.

This is extraordinary. For a start the statistics do not support the charge that foreigners have stopped buying shares in UK-quoted companies because of Brexit. Back in 2016, they held 53.9 per cent of the UK market, so they have actually increased their holdings since then.

So where did the money go? It is complicated but the simple answer is that regulation and tax changes have pushed them to put funds into gilts and other fixed-interest securities, with all sorts of complex derivatives used to try to bump up returns.

What I find astonishing is the U.K. public trust these muppets to invest their pension subs , for such rubbish long term returns of 7% ( 4% after inflation).

One needs to target 30% per year on average for decades.

Government backs bill to expand pension saving to young and low earners
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) today confirmed it will support proposals to expand Automatic Enrolment, enabling millions of people to save more and to start saving earlier.

Jonathan Gullis MP’s Private Members Bill, backed today by the government, grants two extensions to Automatic Enrolment – abolishing the Lower Earnings Limit for contributions and reducing the age for being automatically enrolled to 18 years old.

Minister for Pensions, Laura Trott, said:

We know that these widely supported measures will make a meaningful difference to people’s pension saving over the years ahead.
Doing this will see the government deliver on our commitment to help grow the economy and support the hard-working people of this country, particularly groups such as women, young people and lower earners who have historically found it harder to save for retirement.

ACE was conceived in 2017 to solve complex problems emerging from a fast-changing data and technology landscape and to do so at pace. The need to do that is as pressing today as it was then.

We were delighted to welcome Daintta, Triad Group Plc, Principle One, MMCG Consultancy Services LTD, Experis Project Solutions and Valcon to the ACE Space this week to launch ACE Core+, an initiative created to provide flexible additional team capacity during times of high demand. ACE has ambitious plans for continued growth, and Core+ will enable us to continue to deliver mission impact, supporting our Core Team. Partners were selected from our Vivace community to deliver talent and capabilities, enabling us to support more commissions through peak times.
Emily Griffiths, Resourcing Manager for ACE hosted 11 people from six suppliers who had been identified as the first partners to work with us as part of the Core+ initiative. The morning was spent explaining ACE’s history, our culture and ways of working. The afternoon was more interactive, with 'speed-dating' style breakouts for our partners to meet people working in different areas of ACE to get a deeper understanding for what they do.
Emily said, “It was a good first kick-off event; together we came up with lots of great ideas to work in collaboration. It felt like the start of a great partnership and we’re looking forward to developing how we work together more in the near future.

Once again I believe the market has not grasped the magnitude of this announcement from ACE.

For ACE to scale up it has chosen my SIPP pension single share, Triad Group Plc, as one of 6 , out of 300 plus partners.

This is a huge achievement by any standards.

The potential here to grow, with ACE , over future years is absolutely staggering when one takes into consideration the new procurement Bills approach, as well.

Triad Group PLC is valued at just £22M of which a chunk is cash.

The U.K. government is desperate for growth to keep the country from going bankrupt, a new government ministry has even been created.

ACE is a different procurement unit that is not run on traditional tendering principles,( that are far to slow, and normally based on price.)

ACE works with various partners all at the very top of their game, to bring about rapid solutions that benefit us all.

It particularly benefits those SME’S with bright Tech ideas, to jump hurdles at pace.

Rates are agreed prior to assignments that typically value the skills and technology involved, over price. As we all know , the lowest bid price rarely produces the best outcome for stakeholders.

In a bit of irony, ChatGPT is growing so fast the AI-powered program is starting to rival Microsoft’s Bing search engine in terms of web traffic.

The findings come from internet traffic provider Similarweb, which reports(Opens in a new window) user visits to ChatGPT nearly doubled last month. On a worldwide basis, traffic to the chat.openai.com domain was up 85% in the first 25 days of February compared to the same period from the month before.

“Born at the end of November 2022, ChatGPT is now attracting about as much worldwide traffic as Bing, which has been in existence since 2009,” Similarweb added.

As I have previously explained, one needs rapid growth in profits and dividends to produce share price appreciation. This is exactly what I am aiming for within my SIPP pension.

The new government PROCUREMENT BILL is about to radically change the government’s approach , utilising SME’S to a higher degree, over the massive conglomerates.

Few if any , Stock market listed, SME’S, are in this space today.

I believe going forward, the big players will have to partner with the smaller players to get a slice of the cake they traditionally took for granted.

Philip is the Commercial Director and Chief Procurement Officer for Technology at Crown Commercial Service with responsibility for Common Goods and Services across Technology and Digital Categories of spend and manages £7.2bn of annual technology and digital spend.

Average private pension pot at age 50 is just £40,000.

Further analysis by PensionBee suggests that the extra savings needed to retire early may be out of reach for an ‘average’ worker. Someone with a typical pot of £40,000 saved up by age 50 (and who could potentially face a rise in State Pension age to 68) would be looking at a shortfall of around £153,400 on what they would need for the whole of their retirement, including after they start receiving the State Pension, in private savings to retire at 60 (about £232,000), versus what they might realistically have saved up by this time (an estimated £78,600).

The typical shortfall to make up for someone with an average pot size at age 50 and wanting to retire at 63 would be £89,400: they would need about £181,000 in private savings to lead a moderate lifestyle for their whole retirement, but would be likely to have amassed about half this, at £91,400. However they could still potentially afford to retire at 67, even if the entitlement age goes up to 68.
