No problem with your question. My mates are in the stockbroking business and look after managed accounts. Most accounts are £10 million or above. In simple terms they are simply not allowed to invest in a company like ours on other peoples behalf. Mifid 2 etc and also the levels of risk just keep us out of the frame for now. As general rule the guys I know generally keep most of their clients money in the FTSE350,
However these guys do have live trading desks and of course many have their own portfolio's and of course in the conversations with colleagues such as their own analysts etc Companies they would not look at during the day do get talked about in the pub hence the "talk of the city" comment The reason why it is even on there radar is the fact that two majors have been RNS'd very unusual as been commented on publicly elsewhere.
Of course other Brokers/FA's will have different remits to my mates, but they are all talking and of course guessing as we are as to who the two may be. All I know is that whilst many on here are coming up with names my mates are thinking of perhaps others who it may be.
Hope this explains
