USA needs to roll over 9 trillion dollars within the next 12 months, Bidens legacy in borrowing huge amounts on short term debt while interest rates were low instead of long term low rates. UK interest rates are the same when Blair/Brown were in office and UK is now paying more than Greece/Italy and France, well above the rate when the Bank of England screwed Truss. Martyin, read my post properly, some UK gold was sent to Canada at the start of WW11 and sent back to the UK after the war, i have no idea how much gold Canada had before the war or after, those are the facts. I know Canada sold all its gold while at the same time Dozy Brown sold around 450 tons of UK gold between 2001/02 and Switzerland sold 1100 tons. My point i was trying to state is that during a war gold is sent to safe areas. Do you know what happened to Libya's gold when Ghaddafi died, all went to the USA, same as Iraq's Gold and Afghan Gold, Iran's gold will remain where it is as USA will not send troops to the mainland. Hi Martyin, just trying to point out what happens during a war with gold, as a matter of fact 50,000 tons of gold was moved out of London at the start of the WW11, 11,000 went to NYC and Canada, around 30,000 tons to a slate mine in Wales and around 10,000 tons to Edinburg Castle, All done in total secrecy. Can you imagine the logistics behind that, hundreds of trucks taking the gold to the trains after packing into wooden crates, marking up the crates ETC. After the war, getting it all back to London, again in total secrecy. There was a problem in that the Wales slate mine was wet and destroyed the markings on the crates, took a couple of years to sort it out. Hope GGP gold is well marked. Lateral thinker. DM

I don't like share buy backs as not accretive when the SP is naturally increasing. Share by backs normally only work when the company prospects are good and the SP is reducing for out of control reasons and the FCF is increasing. Old bxggers like me like dividends, young uns with plenty of life left might prefer buy backs.

As for gold increasing in central banks, blame Biden and EU for weaponizing the dollar by freezing Russia assets. DM
