If it were Jolly who stuck his head and said 1800p will be a support for this stock, I also said something very similar months ago. Rio is $ sensitive, so when interest rates rise both here and US ( Dec? ), then its destined to go lower and then the isSue about dividend cover will rise again along with BHP's which could be cut having been mooted for ages about. I hold RIO, BHP in FTSE miners. The beauti I started buying BHP and RIO before Rio's RI (1800p!)... ATB everyone...

Brilliant I topped up start of last week here and SHP, HSBC, HSD and ALAI. There are still headwinds ahead for us with the pending strengthening of the $ when interests are finely risen. Something will happen and will not be told about I think... I'd say 10% weighting here is not adviseable. Just my opinion, having sold Novartis back in May at a top of $103.50.

Though iv one in Murray Income sitting around 10% in value sitting niecly at around 345% having held over 17yrs. Think that's my best trust fund profit margin...You?

I will add that the strengthening of the US$ will impact the emerging markets to a negative outlook, so this rebasing of the dividend I was thinking would have been to at least half it! But to only reduce to 7.7%, still leaves for further downgrades in future... Argentinian government I hear has only got $40bn in federal reserves to cover the next party to take seat... We all hope that the Brazilian Olympic games can help economy grow next year from tourism. Think I will sit on wall with this trust, or maybe place an order tomorrow. My stockbroker picked this out 3yrs ago when around 100p so great not to have picked! Think I bought Newton Global Income W Inc instead and has gained 28% plus the dividends as well. Atb

The Chronicle this week picked out the best trusts and funds to invest atm. ALAI wasn't even mentioned, but Blackrock Latin America was along with Aberdeen Asian Income. Something tells me its to do with the abnormally high dividend yield.

Just looked at all Investments trusts in FT section and there are only currently 4 over 4% that trade at a discount. Unusual. Unsure if this discount would widen in short term? Looking at ALAI, Shires Inc, InvescoPerp, BlackrockLatinAmerica. I hold 6 already MYI, MIC, STOS, TEM, ThreadneedleGlobal, NewtonGlobal.

Yesterday AZN was downgraded and TP cut to £40. Something I have said for a long time, and still believe that is overvalued, until the sales start coming in to replace the current declining one's. Still believe this might go as low as 3300p. Time will tell

If we compare these two trusts, I would opt for the Blackrock Latin America trust over this. Dividend I much safer over short term.

When the Brazilian economy recovers so will this fund!!! We also have the Olympics next year, so maybe this might start an upward trend from Easter time? I will be selling my Imperial Tobacco (+200%) and invest here, thik this has to be close to a bottom... I have 6 funds / trusts, best has been MIC and FC over last couple of years. Looks like its best to invest in funds UK Biased! Lol
