I would disagree on a stock split.

That could result in both higher volatility, it means true investors with cash are invested in here, not day traders.

I’m looking to buy 100 in January for sure .

Looks like the basket of analysts have earnings to downside / sideways the next couple of years until a proper pick up.

Iv also got Goldman and Bank of New York Mellon up 155% and 69% respectively, plus the dividend income too. Enough said.

HSBC and uk equities are and always will lag any counterpart.

Is it the politics, FX, or is it the fact that we here in UK are less interested in trading / investing in equities.

Compare AstraZeneca versus ABBVIE / AMGEN another example

76% versus 147% & 58% ( plus 4-3% dividends ),

SHELL versus XOM 13% versus 77%

ULVR versus PG 4.5% versus 45%

HSBC has performed poorly over 10yrs too compared to counterparts across the board, it needs to rethink its dividend policy if it wants to satisfy its shareholders and give us growth.. it’s stagnate. Could have done better with safer bets on FIXED cash ISA over last 2.5yrs

Iv done better with buying stocks than funds / trusts.

I’m 60% USA 20% SWISS 20% UK

In 23yrs up 315% approximately minus dividends .

I have a 40% spread over pharma , not enough in industrial bar BAE.

Although it’s up, my view is wait until 1st Nov.

BUDGET could rejig FTSE.

Plenty of UPSIDE here, if EPS can turnaround next yr. I’m thinking there is a big possibility with lowering interest rates for FTSE250 companies especially.

2024 EPS decline was 3% which has been happening yoy for past 4yrs

Does this go back to the reason that international companies are becoming more reluctant than ever to invest in UK due to higher business rates?

Or is it a combination of lots of reasons??

UK shares have underperformed for decades versus S&P. It’s awful.

Here’s some of my shares in USA v UK

If we compare some gains here v UK stocks from 1994 to 2023 October 26th



XOM +750% plus dividends( USA) 



SHEL 144% plus dividends in that period 



BP. 320% plus dividends 



CVX. 700% plus dividend's (USA) 



OXY. 5800%! plus dividends ( USA) 

including 



BHP + 1,025% ! Plus dividends along the way!!

Diamondback Energy +780% (2012-2023) + dividends / special dividends (USA)

COP +950% plus dividends(USA)

Pharma sector too has rockets there too with ABBVIE, JNJ, MERCK, LLLY, MCK compared to both AZN & GSK.

Just reading your post, we’re back to 110 levels at 117p since your posting at 130p.

AZN not been a good trend, from a couple analysts commenting on AZN’s pipeline lacking any true blockbuster.

This i kinda disagree with, but if compared to ABBVIE, LILLY, NOVO, NVS, ROCHE, VERT, Astra don’t have a big blockbuster drug compared to themthat substantiates this rise to £130.

Until we get results on 8th February this will continue to go sideways.

The future does look a little uncertain with Sorriot.

Farxiga revenue $6bn is the top blockbuster drug of AZN

Mercks blockbuster KEYTUDA has $14bn in sales for 2023

I hope Soriot is still at helm in 2030 to see this growth, but doubt it.

Could we see this hit 120 by earnings? Think so. Another wee chop here n there, then it’s up we go.

The turnaround is not far away.

The RSI is still showing this to be a SELL, it’s overbought , and numbers don’t prove growth is there…

Further, for LGEN to even consider raising the dividend 5-6% this is laughable, cause it’s now just a BOND we’re holding nothing else.

ABDN is in sane bought, both need a large haircut.. GLA

It’s overvalued at 20times earnings. unless warnings keep up with growth this is overvalued.

It’s good to hear future earnings grow, but current EPS is not.

For past 3 moths have tracked more sellers v buyers here.

Today is 883k v 435k

Think everyone has to keep remembering, that along with LGEN & ADV

ABDN these two are over 9% dividend yields.

Both are not covered by earnings, how long until the dividend is actually cut to aid growth in these two investment vehicles?

Both are dwindling to nowhere.

It happened before with ABDN, the question is when do we think they will consider the payout again, maybe February? Outflows in funds are still happening…

Been here since 2007 with SL then that awful purchase of Aberdeen which I believe crushed us. Bigger is NOT always better, and that’s maybe the problem here

Morningstar / ZACKS funnily have a fair value of £235! Haha.

Don’t know where these analysts get their numbers from..

Then again another analyst come up with £78.32.

Weird after hour trades going on from 16:19 on 19th September.

There must be close to 20 X 1 share trades going through, one 742,000 trade and a few 2 share trades.

But then again lots of FTSE stocks have this going on

2014 663p and 49c dividend

2024 663p and 61c dividend

Can’t say this for US competitors like

JPM, BAC, C, Bank Newyork Mellon,

Allstate Corporation, CIGNA.

All these banking & insurance companies grown 200-250% in equity in 10yrs.

So 236p would be 555p approximately today. We wish !!
