I was just thinking about life policies, who actually takes one out now?

I think this stock is going to stagnate over time u less it cuts thus dividend by 1/3.

RISK is far too high, when people live longer sand we have more unforeseen illnesses.

Thus seems to be a UK thing of severely high dividends.

Top slicing the yield to a reasonable 3% much like SSE, would have saved

I’m a little confised, not usually with RI’s.

Why was RI priced at 645p and when I checked this week was it sitting at 148p-149p on my account?

The rights issue of 1.09 billion new shares is at 645 pence per share on the basis of seven new shares for every 24 existing shares, the company said, representing a 34.7% discount, adjusted to reflect a recommended 2024 final dividend of 39.12 pence a share.

To say it’s a good dividend payer, is a little naive in my view.

If we look at the numbers over the past 18months and going forward EPS has declined and will continue to decline into 2027 Im afraid due to higher costs and taxes.

I know it’s not much if a decline but we will be having constant declines until 2027 at least.

I’d disagree with your preposterous comment on whether you should sell your SHEL shares.

Firstly, look at the VIX today, it’s showing a true lack of complacency in investors thinking everything is great.

You should follow this VIX trading theory;

When the VIX is low ( NOW ) time to go;

when the VIX is high, it’s time to buy.

Throughout the past 10yrs, low VIX readings have preceded stock weakness resulting in shocks to stockmarket movements, and high VIX readings have preceded stock strength.

I can see a mean pullback from these leve. When. In next couple of months.

I base this in interest rates NOT being lowered.

Lowering interest rates is only going to do one thing, it’s going raise inflation numbers duh.

Cala were bought for £315m in ‘18.

I’m in with 437 new shares. Look where they will be in 2025.. who knows, but remember the dividends help recoup loses over the LONG term.

I think you just have to follow where the heart thinks, , NG is at the heart of UK energy infrastructure, also has US segment to its business which is great..

Remember, you’re investing here for your pension I presume, I’m only 40, but I’m well over 6 figures in many shares.

I’m 40% sure of buying these as I did bsck at last ones in 2010 think it was at 335p!

The difference here, we’re at the top of a stagflation environment and this rights issue price of 645p coujd well be hit when we do come back to reality that rates will not be lowered at all thus yr due to inflation pressure creeping back up if we do lower rates.

This is the fault of FEDS, BOE & ECB lower rates too low and keeping them low to help governments.

So, going back to RI. Only invest if you’re prepared to see value lower by a further 20%. It’s well possible, but remember we drip feed funds into the stockmarket over a longtime nit in one go.
