If we were looking to defend a bid , would it be advantageous to have a load of news ready to release to the market in the pipeline as I can only think we have way more news available than they are putting out there ?

Hi Q …. That open letter was a clear message from BHP / NCM . I think their agenda will be clear for all to see shortly and spelt out at the next AGM …. We need to be very careful they are not allowed to bulldoze their way to power

To get a decent price we need more than one decent party or some amazing drill results….. something is going to give here soon and the published agenda for this years AGM could be very telling

The thing I would love to see is a 3rd big player enter the fray whoever it may be …. BHP will hopefully not be able to simply bulldozer everything in their path

Apologies I realise you didn’t ask me but , I’m fairly certain BHP and NCM are behind this. They are pushing for this and are very keen to make the company appear incompetent ( the company have not helped themselves in this regard). Why all the delays reCEO / drilling results I’m not sure but there must be a reason. What we ( as shareholders) need is some serious competition to BHP & NCM, another big player to enter the fray ….. and we need it badly.
One thing I’ve been pondering is where CGP may stand now …… they want a decent payday and I’m not convinced they’d entertain a paltry offer so we cannot assume they’d vote with the big two unless the price is right…… absolutely loads going on behind the scenes and I think things may have just kicked off.

I did say earlier that I felt shareholders would be asked to make big decisions again at this years AGM or before .
I’m certain BHP want this as cheap as possible ( why wouldn’t they) but have never been convinced before that they can work in tandem with NCM ….. just hope we have something up our sleeves, at times like this there simply has to be competition for this kind of asset …… absolutely no one willing to show their cards here

That’s the problem Bozi , we need competition and we don’t know if there is any?
The more frustrated people get , the more likely they’ll throw in the towel one day and this is what we have to be wary of.
One the one hand we mustn’t lose sight of what we have, on the other hand the company need to occasionally remind us what we have and keep people interested/ invested….. just need to do our best to ensure this isn’t given away

Understandably people are getting disgruntled and then some….. add to that we are not all working to the same time lines.
There is clearly a lot going on in the background and timing ( for whatever reason) appears to be key here.
For years now BHP and NCM have gone out of their way to not make any positive comments where Solg is concerned…. And why would they it’s simply not in their interests.
I’m convinced there will once again be big decisions to be made at this years AGM if not before and equally convinced the last thing the big two would want is a flow of decent news prior to any such event.
What we need is some healthy competition but where will that come from ….. be interesting to see how BHP etc react if we get a decent JV offer for one our regional projects…… I tend to agree with BBG, in that the longer this goes on the more fascinating it gets.
Whoever was behind that open (Whinging ) letter will have been given a nudge IMO

My point is if BHP could get exactly what they want , when they want I would imagine they'd want to walk away with this for nothing ...... can they?
There were (in my opinion)negotiations which resulted in the second Franco 50m being passed up and Nick stepping down but clearly in the last (oversubscribed) raising BHP were only able to get their allocated shares ...... I think they'd have had more if they were able .....they are not getting it all their own way though I don't question that they may one day hold the deeds, just not for peanuts

Of course they can get Cascabel, but they’ll have to pay a fair price
