The Coastal Zone Management Program is intended to extract minerals from 300 meters of landscape from the average high water level identity defined as coastal zone. However, there will be no excavation operation in the wave zone area. Also, excavation will not take place in areas of environmental or cultural importance.
Some notable areas such as sanctuaries, places of secular importance, graves, streets / roads, and archaeological sites will be avoided from excavation operations. Also, commercial areas, residential areas, and fishing areas will be avoided and there will be no excavation in these areas. The scheme will not only avoid excavation operations in the Western areas, but also use further safety measures by following an evacuation zone of at least 50 metres around environmental and cultural or arthritic sites / environmental sensitivity sites.
It is planned to extract heavy minerals in the area 300 m inland from the Mean High-Water Mark which is defined as the coastal zone by Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP). However, Mining will not take place in the tidal zone. Furthermore, areas that have environmental or cultural significance will not be mined.
There are many significant areas such as sacred sites, religiously significant places, Cemeteries, Roads and Archeological sites that will be avoided. Sites such as Commercial areas, residential areas and fishing areas are also to be avoided and will not be mined. In addition to avoiding the mining of the above areas, the project will deploy an extra safety measure via adherence to a minimum safety buffer zone of 50 meters around environmental and cultural or archeological significant/sensitive sites.
