There was a flare on March 3, but it was underwhelming—likely the smallest heat signature observed so far. And it was burning hot high, which suggests very low flow rates. My view is that they’re now soaking the well in the hope that conditions will improve over time, but realistically, it seems more like a delay tactic while they prepare to communicate disappointing results.
Recent satellite imagery also indicates that the site is not currently active. It appears Falcon did not participate in this well, which was the right decision in hindsight. This is still a setback for everyone involved in the Beetaloo Basin. At this stage, the only remaining hope lies with Empire’s well, which is the only active play right now. Hopefully, they can achieve reasonable flow rates.
