The Government needs to be quicker in approving OPM at Phulbari in order to actually have a policy. The news every day will be full of this that and the other because the country has no policy initiatives that are delivering.

What’s Going on in India?

Will the transportation of coal affect the Sundarbans World Heritage Area?

The Project is located about 450 kilometres to the north of the Sundarbans Reserve Forest and so will have no direct impact on the Sundarbans World Heritage Area. The Project's supply chain and potential export of some of the coal will involve shipping and barging through established shipping routes that are outside the World Heritage area. The waterways of the Sundarbans have been important trade routes for many centuries and Mongla Port, located on the Pussur River 48 km south of the river port town of Khulna, is Bangladesh's second largest seaport. Dredging is already routinely carried out to keep Bangladesh's waterways open and also reduce the impacts of flooding. To support this requirement the Government of Bangladesh announced on the 9th March 2011 that it had established collaborative arrangements with the Dutch Government for protecting rivers and developing its waterways.

The Project's Feasibility Study included extensive studies into the navigability of the Mongla Port Authority's waterways and determined the dredging and shipping aid improvements required to achieve international shipping standards. It also incorporated an independent risk assessment of the entire transport route from Phulbari to the Bay of Bengal and concluded that the Project's transport plans will result in improved rail and maritime safety and so establish standards that will better protect the country's national heritage assets.

A little friendly cooperation rather than a takeover would have been order of the day to elevate both AAL and BHP.

It should be obvious that GDP is going negative with reduced power output and any expenditure needs to bring power online at affordable rates. Transmission lines are a big problem it seems-just as in the UK to serve renewables (it is v. expensive laying cables). If they pay more for power from India than they charge it is only manageable if taxes from business can pay for it but some garment makers have had to limit production I read on the BB links.

Unfortunately the decision is announced when all the political movers and shakers are brought on side as it would be easy to upset the applecart with a riotous mob if whipped into action so all mobs have to be catered to/educated in advance. The OPM decision is already the solution arrived at for maintaining a positive international/world outlook and for the cooperation of China imo in China's latest push to embed themselves. My plan is to emphasize the incompetence and educate the masses in Bangladesh about good practice with the potential to make the premier a bit uneasy unless she gets more assertive in sorting the situation. Brigra; my point on the BGEO board was that Russians dissenting from Putin will have moved their capital out of Kremlin control and this new law puts them on the radar for Siberian accommodation - potentially! if they have to have their holding declared. Also it may expose Russians who have escaped conscription who moved to Georgia. It is therefore a case of trying to improve the war effort by a pro/appeasing Russian government and stem the adverse flow from there which actually also pleases Georgians who do not like all the Russians in their midst. I have contended BGEO has benefitted from the trend.

Agree NewboF; it signalled a determination of China to arm twist GoB into behaving with some purpose and things have moved on apace since then, mainly due to their dire straits but Phulbari being the low hanging fruit for addressing problems of finance. Tang in the background knows what he is doing also.

I have green boxed Professional as he does not engage with research which would distract a trade but do think he is a competent trader so for that perspective I have his profile as a favourite so I can refer to his wisdom. It is a good method for referring to green boxes if you want to.
