Trust Flybe to codeshare with a bankrupt airline. Alitalia are bankrupt with bits being sold off by the Italian government. 8 billion euros of state money has been spent keeping Alitalia afloat and the result is "an airline that keeps getting smaller and more dysfunctional. ... If we had sold it to a big international player, we would have better service and we wouldn't have thrown away all this money." The government aims to complete the sale of Alitalia by April. Cerberus Capital Management, the US private equity group has made a bid, and Lufthansa and Sleazyjet are interested in buying bits. Looks like a similar fate awaits Flybe.

Re consultancy specialisation. Personally think its an excellent move. There are very few consultants who specialise in Machine Learning (where machine learns without needing to be programmed - aka artificial intelligence) and Computer Vision (converting visual data into digital and making decisions), both disciplines needed in great demand by the defence industry. There is far more value in the software than the engineering, and a bigger market for the products. In years to come, the software side could easily become the dog rather than the tail, in a not dissimilar way to what happened at Eleco which is now a software company rather than building products supplier and where the new dog has shed its tail.

Undervalued ? Thought the problem with CAR was its pension deficit (caused by lower returns on government bonds) effectively siphoning off the companies cash. Add to that the illiquid trading environment and this is the result.
