Many Thx WW - completely agree. On a lighter note - in conversation with stranger down pub - don't drink Vimto myself - but been told that the new recipes introduced to avoid sugar tax do not taste as good as the old, and that the artificial sweeteners that replace the sugar (polyols?) are needed in such high concentrations that they result in drinkers visiting the toilet more often, and this is the real reason (rather than consuming sugar) that the recipes help prevent obesity ! You could not make it up.

Thought Woody sold most, but not all GSK.

Is this A) the usual rampant speculation or B) the world's worst kept secret ? I choose 'A', but still think ISAT is undervalued - even now.

Anyone any idea about why today's big drop ? Cannot find any news/broker notes that would explain it. Every other bank going up by 1%+ with BARC 3% down.

Thought wobbles due to Numis downgrading Mitchells & Butlers and Greene King to "reduce", citing cost pressures in the sector (see Reuters note under MARS for today). Numis more positive about leased and tenanted pub chains like Marston's, Enterprise Inns and Fuller's.

According to market diary, should there not be a TA today ? or was it replaced by December's RNS ?

Timmbos - many thx for your replies. I have never experienced a RNS not showing up on the London Stock Exchange site before and would have completely missed it if it was not for your post. The fact that it is good news (rather than bad newsbeing buried) makes it even more inexplicable - in my view. I have since found, to my surprise, that if you view TPG company details on the London Stock Exchange site it does not show this particular RNS, but if you go into the news section and filter news for TPG it does indeed show up ! I suspect that London South East and ADVFN use the company news section as source rather than the news section filtered by company. In meantime, good buying momentum building up ...

Amused to read start of day comment 'GSK was the biggest boost to the FTSE, rising 1.3 percent after Novo Nordisk's $3.1 billion offer to buy Ablynx reignited enthusiasm around mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare sector'. Needless to say, the rise did not last long. Anyway, who would want to buy GSK ? Or was increase related to the usual talk of sum of parts and possible split ?

Reading the Babcock RNS about Team 31, aimed at building new light frigates, wondered whether TPG has any involvement with any of the bidding teams ?

Surprised that IC making Marstons tip of the year did not result in an avalanche of selling - their tips perform so badly. Fact that price has risen means that IC has been ignored.

Bumble - used a different dollar/pound exchange rate than you which explains difference in yield of 11.3 versus 8.65. Still theoretically a phenomenal yield, despite todays astonishing rise. Hoping for more of this ...

Having held ISAT for a while, had not realised the impact the sp decline had had on divi yield (if maintained). 11.3% as of last night. Surely the highest anywhere, not just FTSE 250 ? Question is the size of the cut ...

Dogtyred - you are probably right. It certainly had a merry xmas but clearly no good year in sight. If it was not for the shorting interest, this would clearly be top up time. Having said that, it was only at no 30 in the short list as of last night.

Not a good fortnight news wise 1) EASA issues Emergency Airworthiness Directive concerning engines wearing out too soon and 2) Airbus ready to axe A380 if no deal with Emirates. Am I the only person surprised sp so resilient ?
