Good news on pension front ...
BTPS has entered into a longevity reinsurance arrangement with RGA which will further protect BTPS from the cost of unexpected increases in the life expectancy of its members.
Covers £5bn of BTPS pensioner liabilities and follows the £16bn of liabilities covered by similar arrangement in 2014.
Transaction will have no impact on BT's contributions to the Scheme, nor on the 2023 triennial valuation.
FCA asking chairman to stay on ? The man that fails to understand the basic banking competence of client confidentiality ? IMO shows FCA in an even worse light than the BOD. Unless they need him as part of their investigation...
Jemperli plus chemotherapy approved by US FDA as the first new frontline treatment option in decades for primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer. Jemperli is the only immuno-oncology treatment approved in the frontline setting for this patient population. Great result for GSK Oncology.
Chinese manufacturing continued to slump in July, but starting to move up.
The Manufacturing purchasing PMI is now 49.3, below 50 that separates expansion/contraction, but higher than June's 49.0 figure and better than forecasts.
Good news is that China has announced fresh measures to boost consumption with initiatives for light industry.
Rishi has backed plans for new fossil fuel drilling off Britain’s coast, saying he would be “pragmatic and proportionate” about reaching net zero ! Wow, didn't see that coming.
Government expected to approve the development of Rosebank, near Scotland’s Shetland Isles — believed to be the U.K.’s largest undeveloped oil and gas field — as well as other sites in the nearby North Sea imminently.
All in the name of UK energy security of course.
IMO great news for BP.
Entertaining article in IC echoing AAL view that long-term prospects for “future-enabling metals and minerals is ever more compelling”. Suggests waiting until China’s Manufacturing PMI index shows a sustained recovery, but by then, IMO it will be too late. PE 10, 4% yield, Buy. Quite agree.
Funny how the Chairmen of two of the most important banks in UK are run by establishment figures who appear to know nothing about banking ! One seems to know nothing about client confidentiality being a commandment written in stone, and actually backs CEO briefing personal data to BBC and the other happily announces disaster warnings regarding recession based on inflation forecasts that are so wrong that the bank is bringing in a 20 year retired yank to set things right. UK laughing stock of the world.
Who's a lucky girl ? Gnome tells me that Swiss banking laws would have seen her swept off her feet straight to jail or sanatorium, along with the reporter. Breaking banking/financial confidentiality is a serious crime.
Jakeanddelwood - thank you for your informed response. Complete speculation of course, but IMO the ICO must act not only to punish NWG but to set an example for all to see. Funnily enough, as you point out, HMG would then benefit financially from the presumably substantial fine.
Depends on whether you agree with the positive vibes from Citi or the negative dross from UBS. Citi expect a strong first quarter due to recent big price hikes, resulting in stronger than expected growth. The gnomes are fixated on free cash flow pressures possibly cutting divi in half. Hoping for the best ...
Jakeandelwood - thought you were kidding, NWG open to fine of 4 per cent of annual global turnover ? Pub confirms you are correct. Several hundred millions at risk if ICO proceeds ... Wonder if this possible liability will appear in Friday results ?
