@TRBob not something I'm in favour of. It is a regressive policy, only those who are able to afford batteries and on-site generation are able to benefit from variable pricing, everyone else will ultimately be hit with higher costs when they either can't respond to price signals or don't have smart meters yet to be able to accurately record consumption. Not to mention that with ever increasing external bad actor threats, UK PLC thinks it is a good idea to have national infrastructure open to abuse. Especially with AI being developed capable of finding weaknesses faster than they can be fixed. We have already observed how the remote disconnect capability of smart meters has been abused by energy companies but there are always those who think it is a good idea to go further and faster. If the UK hadn't intentionally limited regional generation capability without providing a realistic alternative, this "solution" wouldn't be required.

I concur - it is pie-in-the-sky twaddle - grid balancing needs to happen in real time, NESO cannot rely on asking people/businesses to use more, even if they do ask, people won't necessarily have the means to respond. It is absurd.

This is the moment many have been warning about - energy security is paramount. Shame we have to go "told you so" because it took a war to wake people up to what we were saying.

Yeah it is a whopper of an engulfing candle backed up with increased volume - there's obviously the resistance at 95p-100p, after that it looks to me to be around 115-120p then 135p if 135p falls there is an old gap to close up to 180p

I think a re-trace might be off the table, it has just un-done 6 months of re-trace in 1 day and crossed the 200dma and then partly broken-out. It looks like a re-run of 10/5/25 on the chart. If it holds at this level we are 2 weeks from a golden cross; another 10p rise tomorrow and that cross comes in around 21/04 to then set the new flag-pole. Where that goes...time will tell. If some more news comes in....

Disagree - Trump's excursions have reinforced the case for home-grown Hydrogen to replace FF. Wind/Solar has been shown not to be able to cope with the intermittency/storage/dispatch/constraint issues - money earmarked for Transmission infrastructure would be better directed to supporting Electrolysis.

Supply chain inadequacies highlighted by the events show that manufacturing needs to be re-shored for security/defence - raw iron/steel needs a reducing gas (hydrogen if not FF), ships need home-produced steel, so do shells, drones, ammo, guns and we need all of that. Our navy can't even defend the channel let alone other dependencies. Any incoming Party can see that too.

Katstrangler you are the one who brought up Hydrogen cars as part of your justification for the 98p last year being "hype" - that hype claim was refuted and several posters commented (BOD, Bellars,, Seaangler and me) about the merits of Hydrogen cars, that you chose to denigrate.

EU manufacturers are scaling back EV production and have forced the EU to reduce the 2035 100% mandate to 90% (which could include H2) because the demand isn't there.

EV cars were invented around the 1900s - died a death after the discovery of Oil reserves, it is again a zombie technology that just doesn't know it is dead yet.

I think hydrogen is essential for medium to long-distance travel and heavy haulage - EV is suitable only for urban use, the intermittency and distance of requisite infrastructure for charging is illogical. H2 solves that with storage capability.

The 98p peak was nothing like a "pump and dump" - arguably an overshoot on the re-rate that was warranted by all last year's news (although as I've said before I think that it was justified) but that's a very different thing. This news should be the trigger for another re-rate that will leave that behind, espeially when Uniper comes in with the 120MW and the 300MW APAC deal, plus any hydropulse or Alpha deals that come along.

The delayed HAR2 announcements should be along after the Purdah for the local elections, with HAR3 and HAR4 coming behind.

You keep saying it is free money but it isn't. Only the £46.5M is (contingent on it being for the automation work for chronos) The £40M bought 10% of stock and a seat on the Board either as NED or Observer. I have no issue with that, the Gov't has skin in the game but it wasn't free.

The RNS stated

"We expect the total investment to be made over the next three years and to be up to £120m, enabled by the £86.5m UK government support. We target commercial operation of the manufacturing line in 2028."

So that boost to the Cash Guidance is transitory and will be more than offset by the residual drop for the investment from ITM cash reserves to make it up to £120M - still all good.

Over 21M shares have changed hands today, quite why it is still at or about 70p is anyone's guess but anyone who sells here hoping for a drop must be the bravest of the brave or stupid (I'm not brave and I'm certainly not stupid). This is surely about to shoot up with that kind of buying volume.

BOD - it is great news with the confidence boost and all it indicates in terms of production capability and sales prospects expected...

But, there is a caveat - the £40M comes with equity and although it boosts the cash balance now, it is part of £120M investment in the capability and so over the next couple of years that £40M boost turns into a commitment for a £40M spend (including the £46M grant) from the pre-guidance raise cash balance.

All justified investment...but still...
