Thanks IJWT, wellwell, plumbus. wellwell Re the plate atached at Rotterdam. I was assuming that was attached to allow the turret to be removed in Dubai without the AM sinking (!), and therefore it not being required on the return journey following reinstatement of the turret. What you say makes a lot of sense though for a vessel such as this with a bl00dy great 'hole' in the bottom on a long sea passge. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks

Anybody received the details for the teleconference yet? All I have is an email stating they will send out dial in details nearer the time. I would have though that we are reasonably 'near to the time now' Fantastic update and results today. I know it's what we all expected but great to see it confirmed and all the progress pulled together and summarised.

What is it that requires a welding stop in Rotterdam? Just wondering what it is and why it can't be done in Dubai?

Mumbai is pretty much en route back to Europe, or at least it's only a very small detour in global shipping terms. So it makes perfect sense with a heavy carrier like the Jumbo Kinetic to pop into Mumbai and pick up something else that is presumably also destined for Europe, or somewhere else en route. Our buoy is relatively large and heavy, but it by no means occupies the whole capacity of the Jumbo Kinetic. The more heavy cargo they can get on that thing, the more this journey pays for itself.

WT Keep your hair on fella, I was trying to help you. The point is that I have absolutely no idea either, but I had a quick look and of the 324 entries you've found I simply narrowed it down to remove the fishing boats, rowing boats, paddle steamers etc, and concentrated instead on the whacking great drilling platform currently residing WoS. It's just a guess so I'm not going to start making wild proclamations on the subject. Hope that helps.

SIPP you've excelled yourself! I doubt even the people working on the buoy have a better view of the overall thing than we have now - those pics are very high resolution. Great to see the turret being lifted back in too. Impressive that you've basically gone on an FPSO sightseeing holiday - above and beyond the call of duty that. Although I'm guessing your holiday is probably paid for every time the sp rises by 0.5% haha! Probably time you took the wife out somewhere now and treated her!

Agreed. Malcy has an ear in all the right places, and coupled with his enthusiasm and verbosity I think it's often possible to pick up little extras from him that haven't previously been stated elsewhere. I like the guy. Doc I find rather more difficult to warm to!

Agreed Manofleisure. It's a pity NigWits extensive research and valuable comments are now lost to this board. It is the poorer for it. I am also wondering if the 3D image sensors in question may have applications in face recognition for phones, laptops, and indeed a multitude of security applications.
