Stephan Bernstein, CEO of GreenRoc, details the PFS results for the new graphite processing plant. Watch the video here.
Thank you Dalester, very interesting.
I had no idea that there were vehicles already running on super capacitors. Interesting technology and, as you say, looks like a huge possibility for graphene. Cars that charge themselves whilst standing at the traffic lights - very Tony Seba!
Thank you missdosh for bringing that to our attention as always.
It's a while since I've viewed that presentation given by Crystal Amber's Geologist at their investor day last year. It was useful to review it again this morning. It's a good presentation in my opinion.
Interesting to note, in light of the current discussions regarding risk, that the Geologist (working on behalf of Richard Bernstein), summarises the position at the end of the presentation by saying "The risk/downside is very low, and the upside is very great". Indeed, he plays down the risk of water cut in particular throughout the entire presentation, in much the same way as RT himself has.
Now obviously I don't posess a fraction of the knowledge and understanding that he and particularly RT and others have, but I have done my research, extensively. And so for my own investment purposes I prefer to apportion a rather higher level of risk to the project on the basis of making a robust decision as to the downside. And I made my investment accordingly in terms of the proportion of my portfolio given to HUR.
My point being that everybody who invests in Hurricane and who contribute to this board are similarly able to read, research and make their own decisions. The information is out there, it is freely available, and there is certainly no shortage of it. Anybody who is invested here and has not done their research is taking a chance - they are gambling, not investing.
And so there really is no need at all to keep re-posting the various risks and downside in relation to this investment. In the same way as there is no need to keep spelling out the upside. Persistence towards either extreme will naturally be seen as disingenuous. The risks here are various and real, and I'm quite sure there are many that have never even been recognised or discussed here. And the potential rewards are clear for all to see.
It is up to individual investors whether to buy, sell or hold. Nobody here should require protecting, and anybody making investment decisions purely on the basis of what they read on discussions boards such as this frankly should not be investing in my opinion.
For the avoidance of doubt, I hold a significant position in HUR and intend, on the information currently available, to remain holding through first oil.
Wow! It's an impressive presentation, and very compelling. I'll watch it again over the weekend.
If what he is predicting turns out to be even half true, then life as we have come to know it will change beyond all reconition within probably the next five years. Basically, he is saying that the world will be driven (quite literally) by solar and battery storage.
Investment wise? Well, if the potential huge number of applications for graphene come good, then VRS could well be at the very heart of many of the technological advances that need to come together for his disruptive outcomes.
I'm also heavily invested in oil and gas! He's pretty much predicting that oil will be worthless in terms of energy value within maybe five years. I find that very difficult to believe, but that's the point of disruptive technologies isn't it. Sudden, very rapid and completely transformative changes in the way things are done.
I think there's little doubt that many of his overall predications may very well come true, eventually. But that's the thing - timescale wise I just can't see things progressing at nearly the speed he predicts. Technological advancement is one thing and it's difficult to argue with his figures for the speed of technological advancement and the fall in costs. Personally though, I see the difficulties being with the speed of implementing the infrastructure required for a lot of this to happen. Changes in such large scale infrastructure to make possible the things he predicts just do not happen within the sort of timescales he is talking. Or at least they never have before and it's hard to imagine that changing completely.
Fevertree is another one. It even has similar amount of shares in issue to VRS as well. £1.50 to nearly £40 in less than 4 years. And they make tonic water (amongst other things admittedly)! They've built a powerful brand.
But imagine how much bigger VRS could be if the graphene/nanene/graphinks etc transforms even half the materials/applications that have been discussed.
Morning NigWit, i’m very well thank you.
Hmm, i somehow missed that note. How annoying. One of the few investor events of interest that i would have been able to attend relatively easily from Cumbria. Must pay closer attention!
I shall shortly be travelling to Gloucester though to attend the vrs agm and so will take consolation from that over a few beers.
Hope you're well also.
Nice of them to think of us private investors and give us plenty of notice
Grenfell will not be re-covered Max, whether in graphene or anything else. It will be demolished. I believe the plan is to use the site to provide a suitable tribute, maybe a monument and a public space, in order to remember all of the people who died. Nobody would ever want to live in it again after what happened, even supposing it was repairable, which it isn't.
Fred
Following this deal the entirety of Hurricanes assets are brought forward far sooner than they would have been. Let's see how much oil is proved up in the next 18 months alongside the EPS which will soon be up and running. Then we can look at what BP, Shell, Chevron, Total are going to have to pay.
Thanks Genghis, makes a lot of sense. As you say, something else to consider and be wary of. There are a lot of pitfalls in this game!
Thankfully none of those issues apply to SDX IMO. Famous last words...

What is your concern regarding dual listings? Just out of interest.
I hold a position in SDX Energy who are dual listed. I would like to understand more about why this is a concern.
All the best.

I also recall you saying this Ricfle, and thank you for posting the Bloomberg article.
Things are going to get very interesting indeed for Hurricane. The following paragraph in the Bloomberg article really stands out, and says it all:
“If oil demand continues to grow to 2030 and beyond, the strategy of returning cash to shareholders and underinvesting in reserves will only turn out to sow the seeds of the next super-cycle,” the analysts wrote. “Companies which have barrels in the ground to produce, or the services to extract them, will be the ones to own and those who do not will be left behind.”
